Get the latest one, I believe it's the m17x? Also, make sure you get it for the right price, don't buy from retail stores, they usually charge more, get it from the website. Also, will you be using it for games?

Does screen resolution matter? Does it have to be small or light?

If you buy new then you'll be paying a major premium for the brand name, so be aware of that.

Seeing as you live in the UK I would suggest this place you get a much better laptop for half the price.

Looks worse but much better performance.

I would honestly stay aware from Alienware. Be aware that you are buying their brand name and pretty painted pieces of plastic, not their advanced hardware.

Alienware's actually do have good hardware, but they are extremely overpriced.
OriginPC offers SICK laptops at a much cheaper price. I believe they were founded by one of the original partners at Alienware.
Here is their 18inch version: http://www.originpc.com/eon-gaming-laptop-features.asp

If your looking for gaming you are probably going for a 17" screen? Minimum hard drive should be about 500 gb, along with either 4 or 8gb of ram (8 recommended) A intel core i7 processor would be a necessity. To get great specs like this you are going to have to pay more but it will be worth it. I would not buy alien ware due to the fact it is a complete ripoff.
