Just an idea..

Seeing how most of the sectional moderators have the permissions to moderator more than one section, I think it'd be more efficient to specialize in one forum.

What I mean is: With more permissions, a moderator has a wider range of moderating sections, which gives more tasks and more responsibilities. If you specialize, you can take the comparative advantage of a moderator and allow them to focus moderate where they are most efficient, active and knowledgeable. With more moderators focusing on their specific forum, a moderator's pressure would be taken off, as with their work load lightened. You can also pinpoint a designated moderator for lack of activity better this way, simply by seeing how organized a forum is.

With moderators focusing on one forum, forums in general would have more time for attending to. Simply put, mods won't just do a little bit here, a little bit there, but focus their undivided attention in one area.

Example of efficiency in one forum: Spyike. Spyike does his responsibility pretty well, also noting that he is only assigned moderator of the market forum. He did and still does, abundance of the workload in the marketplace.

 

Support 100% I think it would be better for the Moderators and the users if they did apply all or nealy all of their attention to one section of the forum

 

Yep, if Spyike does check the other sections very well - he should be a global and so on.

 

All sectionals were given the option to take on another section responsibility about a month back (they all originally only had one assigned section) - most jumped at the opportunity, but it was emphasized by Finn that the moderators original primary section should remain their priority, and that they should focus on cleaning up that before traveling elsewhere.
Personally I have not seen any of them neglecting their Primary section as of yet, but comparing them to Spyike isn't too fair considering he's a blimmin' machine

 

I just think that it would be more efficient if they were assigned to one specific forum. Sure, they do want to get more power for more mod logs, I but don't see the point of moderating more sections if there are already suffice moderation in those sections. Point being, you add more responsibilities to someone, they have a larger workload, meaning they would have less time to spend on their original assignment.

Take out the extra responsibilities, yes they would lose mod logs, but the community perhaps would gain a larger efficiency.

 

Wow, you almost stole my thoughts. The other day I was thinking exactly this, I think it would be more efficient if all moderators had only just one section except for those who do an abundance of workload. (spyike) Many mods like having privelages in multiple sections but to me the idea of a mod is to be as efficient and helpful in a single section, and if you cannot manage to do this in multiple sections you shouldn't be allowed.
