Auto Bumping

The issue with auto bumping isnt the auto bumping, the real issue is the fake/misleading titles, or stock of product thats offered to get people into the discord... ITs pretty much turned discord into a pool where all these "vendors" are attempting to funnel clients to.

Auto bumping isnt even the same as it was, its more along the lines of post farming, client funneling, and tbh it rips away from the integrity of the market do to the fact that every 4 hours a massssiveee amount of bumps happen pushing everything away including new commers who are actually attempting to start/do business here.

Imagine just starting on sythe and 50 monkeys with their auto bumpers on slam you towards page 9000 within a split second of posting.

It kills the market, it paywall blocks new vendors/clients from posting, strips the uniqueness of threads and titles while allowing the owners of servers to pretty much go afk without responsibility.

Might want to ask QBD why he is bumping and not responding. Even the mods are doing it. (According to Grant)

 

The reason most rules are the way they are is because mods sell products... Its why the majority of clients get scammed, workers "get fired" no one gets a twc or dnt, and the circle goes on without any type of reprimand or change.

Its like congress/senate get to "trade stocks" because its an open market but make the rules so it benefits them the most.

I'd like to see a change where if you are selling a specific "product" you aren't allowed to therefore vote or moderate on said change or rule. I still believe there should be mods that can sell and trade but it shouldn't benefit them to be a mod and trade..

By the way. Not trying to throw QBD under the bus but I think its impotant to point out that even staff members are using auto bumpers when neither they or their discord/website are active enough to take customers immedaitely following their bumping of threads. They have needlessly added to the spam on the forum making it more difficult for vendors who do not use auto bumpers to get the business they deserve.

At the very least, assuming Grants claims are correct, I would hope that the temporary removal of auto-bumping permissions from vendors who abuse the system be considered a fair punishment. The community can decide what a reasonable amount of time being unable to auto bump should be.

I fully support this proposal. It's challenging not to, given the moral implications.

However, I believe additional measures would be necessary for its success.

Having been away from the market full time for approximately 5 years, I recall this issue being present to some extent before my departure. I am inclined to believe that not much has changed, despite the implementation of many new rules.

The problem with this approach is that certain traders will always attempt to excessively promote their topics for greater exposure. As Pikachu highlighted, this behavior is already a clear violation of the rules, yet some individuals persist in doing it.

One potential obstacle to the effectiveness of this suggestion is that sellers could hire someone to sit in Discord and respond to tickets, thereby merely stalling and appearing active (hence not solving the problem). In the past, gold websites employed this tactic extensively on live chats.

Discord differs in that once someone joins, they are less likely to leave compared to closing a web browser tab. People tend to idle on Discord, whereas they wouldn't open numerous tabs for gold sites and idle there. I imagine some of those who engage in excessive bumping while not active are attempting to populate their Discord servers and are willing to ignore the bumping rules, especially if they go unreported.

One possible solution could be proposing that communication be done solely via Discord DMs rather than a ticketing system. Sellers could then entrust workers to answer DMs on their behalf during different shifts, similar to how we used to operate on Skype. However, similar stalling tactics could possibly still be employed. Additionally, this would not sit well with traders who have invested in their Discord servers and ticketing systems.

For this proposal to succeed, an in-depth discussion on enforcement and the interventions to be used would be essential, as suggested by both Corby and Bert.

It would be great to see an improvement in this area, as it would make the barrier to entry for new users less problematic.

 

well sythe rules are impossible to change time just join the wagon of 24.7 bumps saying no one will care if you are just spamming threads and afk. only need to be there for 30 minutes after your bump.. another shitty sythe rule

 

auto bumping should be 8 hours normal bumping 4 hours.

and then people commenting after a sale stays the same unlimited.
