This section needs a lot of changes. It's not getting much activity as it should and I want to help y'all improve activity in the section.

First of all, I really don't think we need that many stickies in the section. The stickies I'm talking about are really old and need to be removed. If you guys don't want them to go outdated if you un-sticky them, you could always make another "Useful Threads" sticky as you've done in other forums like Blackmarket Lounge.

Stickies that should be removed.

The Happy Birthday Thread - We seriously need a sticky for people to get up their post counts and just for the small "Happy Birthday X!!!"?

Help make sythe.org wayyy faster for yourself and everyone else (Google Gears) - We don't need this. A lot of us (Not including me) use Mozilla Firefox and I'm sure the ones that use Chrome already have it enabled. I've no idea why this was made a sticky. It would have been more appropriate if it was an announcement.

Link to sythe.org - an easy way everyone can help out! - In my opinion, our forums attract thousands of members already. The sticky was made in 07 when our forums were just gaining members. I also hardly ever see anyone outside of Sythe advertise our website. It really serves no purpose.

What needs to be changed/removed.

I think you need to remove the topic moderation. Let's see what our users usually use CG for. They usually make threads in there asking questions and what not. By the time the mods have approved it for view, it'll be a few days old and will be dropped to the 2nd page, out of sight.

I hope you all would assist me by providing constructive criticism to the suggestions I've suggested and maybe suggest something yourselves.

 

BirthdayThread: Post count should definitely be disabled in this thread, I am surprised it is even there in the first place. I really can't think of another place for it however, besides perhaps the spam forum.

Gears: Receiving a reminder to use gears (for those with gears turned off) when entering the site is plenty; remove this.

Link: I'll agree with this aswell. newfags are annoying anyway

 

Birthday -- Moved to Spam Forum
There is many many threads that should be cleaned out of forums...
Idk if this is suitable but some of the areas have over 700 Pages.. Just delete the last few hundred lol...

Definatly disable post count in the happy birthday thread...

 

Birthday thread - C'mon now, it's someone's birthday. We seriously don't need to take that away. We want people to feel welcomed and noticed in the forums. We don't need that move.

The Google Gears thread - Sythe himself stickied that thread, and I'm sure it's there for a reason. I sometimes use Internet Explorer myself, and it makes Sythe work a little bit faster. No need to move.

The Link thread - You can move that. Our forums are on the top of every page, and anyone who's involved in RS Black Markets/Cheating knows about us.

 

Would you be agreeable if the post count was disabled in that thread/it was moved to spam forum?

 

The Birthday Thread - Disabling post count seems appropriate.
The Google Gears Thread - It's just a reminder for those who wish to help out.
The Link Thread - Not needed anymore.

 

If it was moved to the Spam Forum, it would literally have spam in it. Also, I don't think they can disable post count in one thread in a section. A birthday happens once a year, and I don't really think it needs to be moved that much. The only time people actually say Happy Birthday to one another is if they notice staff or a well-known member having their birthday. It shouldn't matter.

 

I have to disagree with the everything but the "Link thread". I rather have 1 thread where everybody post Happy Birthday than a 10 of them posting everywhere. Gears is just a good reminder for everybody. And I sort of agree with the link thread.

 

Except I think everybody has been reminded of Gears :s

 

New user don't know what gears are, so I think it should stay.

did they add this in the last dossing attack? or has this always been there i first posted in there when the dossing ended and i thought i was muted for somthing.

they do need to remove this its really killing the amount of people in the section

 

Support, the Birthday thread isn't even getting used much.

The happy birthday thread is there to prevent everyone from creating threads about birthdays, removing it would be redundant.

 

Fine. Forget about the Happy Birthday thread. What do you think about the other proposed updates?

 

I do agree that the moderation should be removed, accompanied a sticky explaining the section so its not just a section for random threads that tend to be created there. As for the other issues, I don't see them as any harm and don't think they need to be altered.
