New information about recovering accounts

Jagex has recently updated the way account recoveries are done. If you submit an account recovery and you have access to the email registered to the account, you can immediately change the password to the account. You need no other information. I can post pictures if they're absolutely needed, but I just tried it about 5 minutes ago. This could potentially change the way all account sales are done in the future

Edit: This seems to only work for some accounts and not others. If anyone has any info about what makes the difference, post it here

 

This is true i recovered my stoled acc yesterday just with my email registred you just click on recover via email,put your email put the code you received on the registred email and you directly access to a screen where it asks you for a new password no need of recovery question or anything like that but it seems like you can do that only one time per acc cause i retried a second time and it didnt work.

 

Oh shit. Well, if this is true that's gonna mean a ton of hijacking back of accounts sold. Is it just the registered one, or any of them in the history of the account?

Interesting. I noticed the new visual look of the recovery process, didnt think about it though.

 

I didn't have to submit a lick of other information and it was an instant recovery. If you don't know the email set on your account, you better change it fast.

It has to be the current registered email, cuz they send you a code

 

When I try to recover, I enter email, go to my email and copy/paste the code, then continue like I normally would.

 

Player A: Gives account to MM
MM: Sets new email
Player B: Sends money to A
MM: Gives account with new email to A

That would be how new trades would proceed?

 

I'm not entirely sure, it seems like it would be helpful to have all the info anyway. There's probably some catch with this email thing that hasn't been discovered yet

 

Tried it on a different account, and it does what you said. Oddly enough, it won't work on the first account I've tried it on. weird.

I Tried and it was fail for me still made me do full recovery

 

I did it on one of my accounts and it worked.

Is this for recovering forgotten passwords or stolen accounts?

This could potentially be used in 2 ways; good and bad. The good part is that account trades could possibly be easier and less work. The negative fact about this is that if a user sells an account to a buyer, and the email is set, the account seller could simply recover the account back. The odds are more unlikely than likely, but it could turn out to be a potential scam. Oh well, thanks for letting us know, video.

uh oh.... there goes like 10 of my accs that have emails registered to the seller which i never bothered to change heres an idea. close this thread till my accs have changed emails on them? ;D
