Staff bypassing normal OMM app process?

I never really took much thought to it, but I realized that several staff members have the OMM rank, yet haven't completed an actual app (correct me if I'm wrong). Pen, Ryan, Tyro have not completed apps, yet have the OMM rank, just to name a few.

I realize they are admins and global mods, but I still don't think it's fair to those whom completed the full OMM app process. To be honest, I think it's a slap in the face to those who worked weeks if not months obtaining the proofs and eventually getting the rank.

I'm just wondering, can any staff bypass this requirement of completing an app? I notice some staff members have completed the normal app process, but there's also several that haven't done it. I'm not saying they aren't trusted or don't deserve the rank, but I feel they should have to go through the same process as everyone else; otherwise, it somewhat discredits those that do spend the time to go through it, and somewhat takes away from the rank.

Pen completed one before the new application a long time ago; same with Ryan. Tyro also completed his application; check the Accepting Middleman Application sections.

And no, all members, whether staff or not, have to complete the OMM application before being given the rank.

 

Ah, that would explain Pen and Ryan, however, Tyro does not have an app in the accepted apps forum.

Tyro (temporarily) deleted his application and middleman services thread due to his msn being hacked.

 

Ya I reviewed Tyro's MM thread. The lottery proofs I thought were iffy, but he did in fact complete more than enough proofs to finish the app.

 

What would be the point in deleting his thread? He still held the OMM rank along with his global mod rank. It's not like someone would ignore the ranks he had and instead look at his accepted app. That sounds a bit weird to me.

So rather than simply editing out his MSN he deletes the entire thread? Did he soft delete it or permanently delete it?

 

Soft deleted it. No staff have bypassed the OMM application, and I can attest that (http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=867167).

 

Everyone that currently has the rank has earned it. It might have not been the current application, but still.
