    Aim in life

So, I'm having trouble deciding what I want to be when I grow up. Everyone keeps on bugging me asking what my aim in life is. It's not that I don't want to work, it's just that none of the jobs interest me. I'm still 15, I know, not old enough to get a full time job but I've got to make a plan.

    Things I don't wanna be:
    • Doctor (hate medical shit)
    • Engineer (not that creative with tools)
    • Lawyer (just not into it)
    • Pilot (yeah, it's fun... until the plane crashes in your face)
    May update that list later.

I'd appreciate it if you told me what my minimum/average wage would be, what qualifications I'd need, etc.

I've considered joining the army, but it looks like there's a lot of risk of getting killed and to be honest, I'd rather live a long life. I'd like Spyike's opinion on this.

Please only post if you know what you're talking about.

Maybe you're right. I shouldn't commit myself to anything just yet. But I'm looking at all my options.

Yes, I do. Problem is, I need really good grades to go get a scholarship somewhere abroad, and most of the universities here suck. My parents expect me to always come first in the class like my brother, and to be honest it's getting really annoying.

I want to go abroad too, because most of the people in this country are lying, deceitful scumbags. But I'm not sure if I'll make it.

You are too young to worry about what your future holds. For now focus on getting into college. Keep your high school grades up. I didn't decide what I wanted to do till my second year in college. Try as many things out as possible then it will help you decide what your likes and dislikes are. Good luck!

Dude I'm going to college in January and I'm still not 100% what courses I'll be taking. You really shouldn't be worrying at 15 -_____-

I'm going to be completely honest here. Just like Shakaka said, you shouldn't worry at your age. Currently I'm still in my first year of college and most kids here don't know what they want to do with their lives. Most people still don't know even after their college sophomore year.

Pro-tip: general studies ;). Like Gohan said, sometimes you'll get a degree before you even get the degree for what you want to do. You won't have to worry about your career course until you're like, 23-24, if you hit college at 18. At least, most of us don't.

Do what you enjoy for now, and spend then next 5 or so years figuring out what you like to do, and what you don't like to do ;). Make a chart, if it helps, write in a journal, to keep track, etc.

find what you enjoy, u will be surprised how many careers are out there. whatever you enjoy, u will find a subject that u will find interesting to learn and it will naturally lead to ur future job. find that future job once u find that interest.

i love learning about science and the java language. I find i will be doing computer sciences in my future for job careers :)

not really descriptive and informative, but theres really nothing to say besides this. really think about what u like and what kind of jobs are out there for what u like. hope this helps.

    First off, are you Indian?
Take it from me, (if you're Indian) it's either doctor or engineer. I had to fight with my parents to tell them that I could make more money in finance than if I did eng.
It also helps to have an idea on what you want to do for a career before you enter uni. That way you can truly see if you like it or not, then change majors to see what else you'd want to do.
    Good luck bro.

Quite frankly, you should at least wait 2 more years.
My father suggested me to start being a soccer ref in my country. I didn't start at 15, said WTF I don't wanna do it. Now I'm 17 and I started at 16. I love my job and have made many friends with it.
    Give it some time.

What was funny about my highschool was that subject selection choices played a huge part in what you wanted to be when you left school, ie. college prerequisites. So basically you had to know quite early what you wanted to be. (I'm going to skip the whole "when i grow up, i wanna be a fireman, pilot etc," thing)
Year 7-9: I wanted to be an engineer. I didn't know what type. I soon lost interest in it.
Year 10: I had no idea what I wanted to do. I chose all the science subjects and maths, a legal studies subject, a politics subject and a few IT subjects (because they were fun) I wanted to keep options open.
Year 11: Still no clue, until halfway through the year when I realised, if I loved doing IT, and I was somewhat good at it, it's what I should probably be doing.
Year 12: I dropped all my science subjects and legal/politics subjects, and just stayed with maths and IT subjects. They got me into the university I'm in now.

Basically I'm saying is, keep your options open. I don't know how they your schooling system works with subject prerequisites or test scores or whatever, but choose things that you enjoy and things that will keep your options open.

You don't want to wake up one day, 30 years old wondering WTH you're doing with heaps of regrets.

As Finn has stated, you don't need to think about a job quite yet. But if you want to be able to succeed in life it is extremely important that you go to college/university. I know that your grades will have to be excellent to obtain a scholarship, and that the work will be a challenge, but, as Finn stated, you need to try as hard as you can. Limit the time you spend on the internet, and make sure the time that you are doing work in you are doing %100 work. Most people, especially high school students like you and me, do some work, IM, check a website (sythe), check facebook, etc. What you should do is create a plan for every night and map out the hours. Put the homework you have to do in the plan, and intersperse it with fun. But make sure that when you are working you are working; I cannot stress this enough.

Personally, I go to the #1 ranked prep school in the US, and the workload is quite a challenge. But organization makes you feel good about your work and helps you feel that it all is achievable, no matter how much their is.

    But remember, keep perspective.
While it is important that you get into college, you are currently only 15, and have 2-4 years before that transition. Stay healthy, exercise, play sports, have fun with friends, and enjoy life.

If you need more help on specific organization, PM me.
