It still involves being active, being extremely conditioned, and full of energy. Let's use American football as an example; you need to be alert, active, but you don't exactly need to be as conditioned. Just fat and strong.

Considering cheerleading is part of Rugby... I'll stick with volleyball.

Lol getting one of the softest sport balls slammed in my face.. i'm so scared. You'd have to be pretty retarded to get injured in volleyball. The only injuries come from diving and broken noses.

I'm not saying these spots don't require fitness. Sure the men that play olympic volleyball are probably some of the best athletes in the world, but were talking about how the media portrays a manly sport. A manly sport is portrayed as being physical.. volleyball just isn't.

Rugby is probably the most physical sport there is. Your an idiot if you think it's anymore feminine than volleyball.

The Media does not say a sport is manly. They just cover the sports that make the most money. Baseball is even worse then volleyball. When a rubber ball flies over 100 mph at your face, it usually breaks something.

PE "volleyball doesn't even count considering everyone tries jumping over the net....

    Baseball=not manly.

you'll realize just how easily you can get hurt with the ball when you let someone spike you in the fact with a ball thats coming 50+mph. yes 50+ and that was in high school.

Which can easily be avoided if you "attempt" to block it. Even if you don't, a broken nose isn't really a sport injury.

Try getting tackled in rugby with no pads by some 300 pound person running at you full speed.

Its kinda hard to block a ball moving over 100 MPH. I never said rugby was a easy spot. Your trying to say rugby is the world's hardest sport which it isn't. It has CHEERLEADING in it.

    Volleyball is harder then rugby.

Its easier to play D and score in Rugby then volleyball.

Volleyball and Rugby are two completely different sports, they're really not comparable. Your main argument right now is that rugby is "harder" or "manlier" than volleyball purely because there's psychical contact in rugby. I'll agree rugby is more psychically challenging, but that doesn't mean it's a harder sport.

Broken noses aren't the only injuries that occur, just probably the most common. I've met numerous people who have snapped ankles, legs, etc, from people coming over the net and landing on their legs. Also, you may think the ball is, "soft" but if you smash it 50+ mph into someones face who might be, let's see, 2 feet in front of you trying to block, that'll do some damage.

I play both on the varsity level.
I personally has to say Rugby is the rougher sport of the two. However, volleyball takes way more time for me to polish. I am a libero on my team and hell, volleyball is not easy at all. In Rugby, I play inside center. Rugby is more about cuts and the strategies deployed. Strength is the factor in rugby while volleyball requires more sophisticated skill such as digging. (Trust me, digging a spike coming at you at 50+ mph is one hard ass job)

Sand is quite alot of fun, been doing it all summer. Getting a good 2v2 going in sand...mm mm mmm. I still prefer indoor though, bigger hops, harder spikes, just more fun for me.

Softball is the girls version of baseball (I hate them both)

Volleyball is pretty fun just jumping in the air and smashing the ball down.

Rugby takes pure strength and volleyball actually takes skills.
I have much respect for rugby. Probably the sports that requires most balls. But like I said, it's all about strength, not skills.

Maybe because unlike volleyball, in football physical contact is the whole sport?

But yea, I actually love playing volleyball. I'd never do it in a league or anything but a couple friends have volleyball courts in their backyard and it is VERY fun to play with or against your friends in a little friendly match. ^^ Whenever we have parties we always have somebody bring a volleyball net.

And hell no, I'm not a feminist either.
