The signature looks like it was stretched and then unstretched, it's pretty LQ, the text isn't really good, you should have used the burn and dodge tool, but it's ok for a first or second sig.

I used the burn tool on the top corners and dodged it slowly into the focal point. Should I have placed it differently? It wasn't stretched and then unstretched. Where can I get more text?

Bro. Don't incorporate colored brush strokes with a black and white focal. It ruins it.

Colored brush strokes? Is that the pen tool?

Yea, when creating a signature - as Kiabin said - try and make it either FULL colour, or completely greyscale... having some random sections of colour injected in to the tag will draw your eye away from what SHOULD be the focal and towards the pen tooling (not good).
Darkening around the top, left, and right edges would also benefit the sig, isolating the stock more.
Good going for a first Signature though! Keep it up :)
