Hmmm, Basicly what is time..? Time is something invented by man... so how can we be able to Time travel? Because there is no such thing as time

 

A few months ago I watch some program on National geographic and they explained that its possible to make the time go slower. I dont think "time" is invented by man. They also said something about if we ever can go faster than light we would be able to time travel which kinda makes sence to me because we would be able to see things which aren't there yet. But its really complicated.

 

The maximum speed anything can go in the universe is 189,000 Miles per second.

When you get close to that speed nature protects it, it does so by slowing down time.

So if you're traveling at 188,000 MPS time for you will be slown down, it will feel like
1 day has gone by, but in reality possibly a month has gone by.

So if you travel at 188,000 MPS for say a week, for you a week will go by, you will
age for 1 week, but when you stop traveling at that speed, 50 years has actually gone by.

 

I agree. If we can go faster than light it's possible but really complicated to explain and do.

 

Time is not invented by man, the idea of it was.

Time travel is impossible, nothing can go faster than the speed of light.

 

I heard somewhere that if you can let the light go in a sort of curve and you can take a "shortcut". you'd would be faster then the light which makes it possible to time travel. Very complicated to explain but I dont think its impossible, we will probably just never get to it.

time travel in it self is a possible debate, because, in theory everything in time travel effects something, i could have time traveled and so could have you, we would never have known it though because time changed... hard to grasp, but if you do you will understand

Dont bother argueing because ive watched like the past 5 episodes of through the wormhole with Morgan Freeman K????

The only possibly way we could do such a thing is to travel through a blackhole, and we arn't sure whats through the otherside. Chances are your gone forever, but we're not sure.

Many, many, theories that required the universe to be constantly spinning, have folds, hr have "ripples" have been disproven because the universe doesnt do/have any of those things.

you can go faster than the speed of light but with current technology the implications of that would be to sell the moon or something.
Also the grandfather effect, if u go back in time and shoot ur grandfather u no longer exsist so who went and shot your grandfather?
The reverse is also possible, u go to the future and ur grandson shoots you,who shot you?
so many paradoxes with time travel it doesn't seem LOGICAL for it to be possible.
but meh i still feel it cn b done.

 

How do you measure speed? Speed is measured by your movement in relation to other objects (ex. the speed of your car is measured with the ground as a stationary factor, even though the Earth is also in motion), so I dispute that you can use a universal standard to measure the speed of anything without applying a (assumed stationary) reference point.


And btw what you suggest isn't even time travel.

 

If you go to the future without ever conceiving a child, you wouldn't have a grandson to begin with. I thought that was logical?

 

But surely every1 else around you would age ect ect, so only time would slow down? But when you in reality you would of aged? So there for you would die quicker lol?, What about traveling back into time?

Sorry i didnt mean "invent" i mean time is just a man made consept to keep things inorder.. Because dogs dont go. Oh look its TIME for bed il go to bed now, they goto bed when they are tired.

 

And how do you know that?

 

I find it much more interesting to ask: Does the universe evolve along a single time line or several? Because if there is only one then the Intelligent Design supporters have a very good point: The universe as we know it can hardly exist by coincidence: some estimate that the chances for it to happen is one in a number so big that it would require 229 zeros to write it down. The other alternative is that every possible configuration of space and time exists and we observe only one: the one that make our existence possible. This is sometimes referred as the anthropic principle.

If that is true, then moving across that dimension would be as exciting as moving in time. But, alas, probably just as impossible.

 

Going faster than the speed of light is not possible, but it was explained by Steven Hawkins, that you can use the method to go forward in time.

Say for example you are in a train, the train is at 99.9999% the speed of light (not possible to get to 100%) If a little girl runs from the train to the front, she would be going faster than the speed of light yes? No, the laws of nature make this impossible, everything inside the carriage would go slower, to make sure this girl cannot reach the speed of light.

So inside the carriage is going slower than outside, so 100 years outside for example, could be a possible 50 years inside.

Another method explained was something about gravitational orbit, the satellites outside earth actually go slower in time than on earth, so they must be reset every now and then go that our GPS system can still work etc.

In the centre of the milky way is a black hole, the gravitational pull on this black hole, was so strong that is collapsed in on itself. If we were to get some sort of ship to get into the right position that we could properly orbit around the blackhole without getting sucked into it, the time on the ship would go slower, which would again allow us to move faster forward into time. This way would be greatly more efficient.

Ofcourse these are extremely far fetched ideas, and of course as we move on in time, these theorys may almost certainly be proven wrong and another possible way actually found. It is however said to be proven that you cannot go back in time, as wormholes would be the only way to do this. Most well known cosmologists agree that wormholes cannot transport you back in time.

If this was possible paradox's may occur, which would effectively destroy the universe. Say for example a man opens a wormhole, goes to the other side and shoots himself in a time 1 minute before. Once his past self is dead, he can no longer kill himself, so he won't be dead. But then he alive, so he will kill himself again.

This repeating over and over would have the effect of say putting a microphone beside the amplifier it is coming out of. Eventually the feed coming out of the amplifier and into the mic repeatedly can explode the amplifier. It is believed that such thing would happen to the universe and why would a flaw such as that be that "easily" done.

I know this is a lot more in detail, but i am incredibly bored, and im sure someone whos interested could have a good read. In short, it would only be possible to travel forward in time. Time itself was not made by man, is was however discovered by man. Time has existed ever since the big bang occurred 13 billion years ago and is expected to continue for atleast double that time.
