Views on Ranged Pures

Hey guys,

What are your views on ranged pures? Possibly with mage as well? I'm thinking of making one depending on what you guys think about them if so what stats should I get and quests done?

 

Range within itself isn't as effective as it would be when put with something else, or several other things, commonly called a 'hybrid'. I would suggest 80 range, 82 mage, 60 attack, 75 strength, with 11 prayer. Get ancients and range/dds/blitz combo. I hope this helped.

They're really good and effective pkers, better for multi/team pking though.

The ammo is expensive and costs alot.

 

I've always fancied getting 99 Range, 99 Magic and 99 Defence.

 

tanks are seemingly unstoppable, and due to that, nobody seems to want to fight them. while you'll win almost any fight against a non-tank, the extreme majority of those fights are won by the other party running away because you are, in fact, an unstoppable tank.

I did think about making a tank but I didn't really fancy going down that for a pure this time round...

 

I personally use a range pure and totally own. You just have to have timing and be able to read the other person extremely well.

 

i love pking with range, but hate training it. the experience compared to melee and magic just isn't fast enough for me. my pure is 60-93-2(did the blood pact quest lol) with 12 prayer and 94 mage...72 range. i figure as soon as i hit 99 str/mage, i'll have more motivation to max out range, but not until i get the cash to chin 99. it's the only way i can stand it >.<

 

Mage/range pures work fine against players their level, (ofcourse it is far easier at around 70 odd range at players closer to you combat level probably won't be wearing barrows or wielding a gs)

I like them, I have a pure range as well. If I was going to do anything to the account it would be the old adding defense to make it a range/tank.

 

That is my dream pure.

Range itself is not good, though range + mage with high defense by your side = win.

 

range pures are cool but personally I think you need a trump card to pk with.

example: some sort of melee. Weather it be gmaul for k0, 2h for f2p, claws, dds.. etc.

 

Most of these people are wrong. A pure centered only on range with 30% of the experience trained in soulwars will be very effective. Melee is only used for the "k0 hit" when used with range, aka the claws, 2h, corrupt, and so on. If you are a ranged pure, then whipping out a dbow or rune cbow will have the same, if not a greater effect. You can also use morrigan's equipment for the final shot. Whatever you do, ranging works. Ranged pures are usually lowest combat possible, so definately keep one prayer, and don't raise anything else.

 

Thanks for all your input, I'll start off by making just a ranged pure and see how that goes if it goes well I'll probably keep with that if not I'll turn into a hybrid/tank.

 

Range is always a good combat skill to have, because its fast and can deal high damage.

Your better off going in groups of 3-5 and pking, much more effective.

 

Requires very good timing/constant looking at the exp bar to see next hit but it's very effective against anyone including def nerds.
Melee often fails against 20-45 def while range just rips right through.

It's also very easy to train since you're only using one skill. No quests are needed either besides animal magnetism. Rune knives-cbow or msb-cbow is really easy to learn and own with. C.morr jav/axe causes safefests. As soon as you pull one out your opponent will franticly spam food.

 

god i love ranged pures, they're great but like someone above me said, they are terrible to train and can be pretty costly. personally, range doesn't make much of a difference besides the necessary teleports etc. which make life easier.

overall, the best range pure there is is 1 def 1 pray 70 - 85 ranged and either a team or solo. say hello to the rune c'bow. he'll be the quick end of many players
