Why do parents/adults think that T+ is so viloent and will make there kids serial killers?
MOVIES and TV shows are as violent maybe even more.
Now I know some games are extremely violent but come, really?

Why generalize parents and adults? I've never met anyone throughout my childhood who wasn't allowed to play rated T games (except maybe until we were like 8). The ratings are there for a reason, if parents want to follow them in order to protect their child then that's their right. And if you really want to know "why", its because of criminals who blame their influence on video games, and the media who sensationalizes everything.

Haven't heard of T+ before, some new rating for 21+ or something? Or does it stand for teen+?

I think parents need to control their children if they really expect to see a change in attitudes towards rating games/videos/movies. If their child is someone who gets what they want all the time (spoilt) and never has to face any kind of consequences, then allowing them to delve into any video game or movie/show will often have negative impacts on their character. But mum and dad will sit there thinking "oh he's fine, he's not really like that" when the kid is tearing up some people on assassin's creed or something, then ignorance will be the downfall of the family when the child decides he can do anything he wants and puts risk before himself or another person.

Another example, if your kid decides he wants to sit with a magnifying glass on an ant hill and watch it burn, then you may need to prevent him from being exposed to violent games. Violence breeds violence, or in this case, ignorance breeds violence.

Tldr: Control your children, don't let them get away with life without facing the reality of consequences. If you feel that your child is mature enough to accept the boundaries between the real world and that of a video game or movie, then by all means allow them to enjoy whatever they want

Children just need to differentiate video games to real life, the ability came natural to me and its hard for me to see why its hard for some. I believe this generation is going to be a lot more violent than previous ones though. I grew up on N64 games like Zelda, Mario, and Donkey Kong, kids nowadays have Call of Duty and Halo which are much much more realistic (contributes to kids not being able to differentiate real life to games) and violent, and are both sensationalized to the extremity that every kid has to have them.

Agreed, if your child has problems like being stuck in their own world too often, then it might not be a good choice to let them play whatever they want ;)

When people become desensitized to something, they are more likely to be okay with doing it. Video games and cinema desensitize people to violence, making it easier for people to kill. That's a theory anyways. But the truth is, it's just a scapegoat for the killing of innocent people by people with problems.

Why is this ridiculous? Obviously if they card you and you're not old enough they're not going to sell it to you -_-

    Lol but think about it:

You go to a cash register, try to buy an "M" rated game, get turned down. 5 minutes later, you come back with your dad, same game. They'd still sell it to you x)

I really think it doesn't really matter.

Store clerks are just doing their job when they turn down young people without ID from buying rated M games, they can get into serious trouble for selling to minors without a present parent giving consent.

The maturity that you are at a certain age should be decided by the parent weather you will be able to play a game and not take it over into real life.

And I think they should lower the 18+ to 16...I honestly think it is dumb having to be 18 to buy a video game just because it is rated M for Blood and Violence.

Parents see the T rating and see that it may be inappropriate for their child at whatever age they are at currently. The parents may just be trying to protect their child.

Video games are the current scapegoat for misbehaving kids, that's all. Before video games it was movies, before movies it was music. Parents should raise their kids and stop pointing fingers outwards when bad parenting is in most cases the problem with violent kids.

The games rating systems are just a reference, to act as a sort of guide. And it is not required to by law to be followed, however most game shops are strict and it is part of their rules to not sell mature games to minors.

As much as I agree that ratings and such can be kind of ridiculuous and that kids shouldn't be censored from certain things, it's still the choice of the parents.

To be honest, this days younger generation is getting way to sensitized. I believe if parents watched their children and punished them properly video games such as these would be able to be played without any issues. Often in todays society if a child for example at school, gets violent (obviously not shooting a kid >.>) they only would get such a thing as a detention or a suspension. In my opinion corporal punishment needs to be brought back into schools, and parents SHOULD hit their children, if they are out of line. Video games themselves do not caught violence themselves, its the neglect from parents watching over their children and their actions against it.

On topic, I've never really heard of T+ rating, that might be R to us, and thats banned, from Australia, just when there is a bit of blood and gore, which i personally thing is bull.

You probably don't live in the U.S. Here it is not by a specific age number rather than an age group(E.G.: E(everyone) E10+(everyone 10 and older) T(teens+) M(Mature audience only(17+) AO: (adults only(18-21+).
