What's a middleman?

Can someone please explaine to me what a middleman actually does. I would like to sell a couple of items using a middleman, but I am not 100% sure of what they do? All I know is that it is a more safer way of transfering?

Could some please explaine exactly what they do, I would appricate it .

So pretend you are trading someone and they ask you to go first, let's say you did go first and gave your item to the trader and got scammed. Well a middleman is used to ensure that doesn't happen as they receive the items from both sides and swap them.

 

A middleman is exactly what it sounds like, a man, in the middle.

Say you're selling an account for real money. You give the account information to the middleman, the buyer gives the money to the middleman, then the middleman exchanges information (after he verifies it).

So it is a safer way to trade, as long as the middleman is trusted.

 

A middleman basically make sures both people put up their end of the deal. Making sure either person does not get scammed. You can read their rules to see how their trading works, but most middlemen just take both payments (account and paypal money), verify everything and make sure it is all working correctly, then they send the users their stuff. If anything goes wrong they give everything back without anything going wrong. I would recommend that you use an official middle man, but middle man that charge a small fee usually are faster to get.

Instead of giving the $$ to the person buying the item, you and the
person trading both give $$/item to middle man then he gives to you
