Some reading material for you while you decide to defend a group thats reputation is primarily based upon their violent tendency.

Do you sincerely not know anything about these specific individuals or are you deliberately attempting to act as if you don't just to spark a worthless conversation that is too obvious to be drug out.

It's about the principle, why should we build something to honor those who brought destruction on our own people?

Clearly we accept other cultures hence our allowance of letting these minorities to be legalized into our country and offering them the same benefits as our own people.

It's three blocks away. The people arguing toward your favor argued that landmark status should be given to the building, and, to your dismay, landmark status was never given.

You do realize that these Islamic Extremist are fighting for something that they believe to be true. What motivation does American soldiers have? Most of them are college drop-outs trying to get some sort of bread.

Sorry, I didn't look that over a second chance. What I meant to say is this: those arguing towards your favor said that landmark status should have been given to the current building(s) located where the Mosque is planned to be built. They do this so that the Mosque can't be built, but landmark status was denied.

lol I am a muslim and I absolutely have 100% grudge against Osama and Al-Qaida. In fact, if you research, you will find that they are not even Muslims. They dont practice anything what Islam says. Islam forbits killing of another, consuming alcohol, murdering innocent, and such ugly crimes. But Al-Qaida is doing apposite. Therefore, I dont even consider them to be muslims! Also, Al-Qaida is no doubt controlled by our (United States) gov.

Ahh. What was the reason for wanting to landmark those buildings? If they have significance to the people of New York and that area I see no reason to disapprove of anything

The reasoning behind giving landmark status to a Burlington Coat Factory (or, at least, the location where one once stood) was to promote bigotry because of bad rhetoric: Mosque on Ground Zero -- a phrase said often that didn't fully explain the situation. Also, I find it hard to believe that a building two blocks away, that once housed the business "Burlington Coat Factory", that is now of no use, holds significance to amounting more than that achievable by a Mosque and Community Center.

think its a wonderful idea the begening of the breaking down of the barriers that prevent american muslims from integrating with the rest of society.

Why shouldn't the mosque be built? First of all it's just ignorant to assume that all muslims are to blame for the attack, so there's no reason why a group of people who had nothing to do with it builds a religious building close by.

Some say that it would be a victory for the extremists if a mosque "claims" the area around ground zero, but I'd say the crater (which last time I checked was still there after all this time) is victory enough.

I don't think it should happen. It would be in my eyes, disrespectful to have one build right next to it.

They should be a little more sensitive about the matter. The most does not have to be that close to ground zero, they are obviously trying to send a message with this project.

What message is sent if they're not allowed to build it? How is there freedom of religion if there are restrictions on which locations are open to certain religions?

The message is, that they don't want to disrespect the families of those who were killed as a result of the actions of those of the muslim faith, by setting up a mosque right next to where the towers used to be.

Right there you're pulling one characteristic of one group of people, and use that to connect them to another group of people for the purpose of judging that other group based on the actions of the first.

That seems a little odd to me.

Saw this on di forums. Don't see anything wrong with it. If anything, it will help some people get a job in this time of recession.

They have every right to build that mosque there, and unfortunately the law allows it.

What I can't understand is why they want to build a mosque so close to Ground Zero. It's like they're looking for controversy and attention. They knew what the Americans reactions where going to be.
