What is with these anime fetishes?

Why does anime have such a huge appeal? Crap like naruto, hentai, and just anything drawn by Asians.

There was an anime club at my school, and the kids would all dress like rejects and pretend to cast spells, do ninja kicks, and other weird shit.

Why? Aren't American cartoons good enough or something? Are you too good for justice league? Why are huge robots, ninjas, and fighting cartoons so appealing? This is an honest question, as I don't understand.

What is with these anime fetishes?

Why are ninjas and fighting appealing? Personally, I like the general mindlessness of the ninja/fighting genre of certain animes. When I watch American cartoons such as Justice League, it seems to be too centered around "good prevails while evil gets it's ass handed to it every time" and, quite frankly, I don't like that. I'd like to have evil win sometimes. I'd like to have two different forms of justice, which usually happens in those shows.
In many American cartoons, it also feels as if the characters are reading off a script rather than actually acting. Even though we can't see real faces and body language, it's still considered acting and your tone of voice is a huge role. If the tone is even slightly different than what needs to be conveyed, the entire mood is thrown off and you're constantly reminded that it's a show.
Finally, the events and story lines are better. Take cartoons such as Teen Titans, Justice League, King of the Hill, Family Guy, American Dad for this example. What is the character development? Are there story arcs? Will those arcs be relevant later? Do the events of past episodes even matter in the future? Not really. You can jump into any of those series at any time and know what's going on. Taking your example of Naruto, there are story arcs. The characters have history which drives them to continue on their journey.

    tl;dr: anime > American cartoons

    Lol at this answer =P

Personally its different, Idk how to really explain it . if you like it you like it if you don't you don't. Theres not really a lot of GOOD american Cartoons only stuff Artists make to keep Little kids interested in, while anime is more Gore and fighting stuff that hey have to censor alot in American cartoons.

Take Naruto for example, Watch the Japanese version then Watch an english version of the same thing. You'll see two completely different views.

Idk how to properly word the right answer for you its wierd

EDIT: guy above me has the right idea :D

What is with these anime fetishes?

Anime is more creative than most of the American cartoons I watch. I'm not a big fan of anime but it is more interesting than most cartoons I have ever seen.

What is with these anime fetishes?

I enjoy watching Anime. Not to the point I dress up and role-play in person but it's generally the same as the explosion of wanna-be guido's once the show Jersey Shore showed up. People watch these shows and think 'Wow this is interesting. I'd like to be like that!' and some take it too far.

As someone said in above, Japanese cartoons >a lot>>>> american cartoons. But with the Japanese obsession comes being a weaboo, or being 'Wapanese' which is slang for Caucasian people to do everything they can to try to be Japanese.

Some people just take their hobbies seriously. And that's never okay I guess, according to you.

What is with these anime fetishes?

American cartoons, are well, IMO, retarded. The character designs aren't as good. Yeah, anime characters have big eyes (some too big) but come on, that's the whole point of it.

I'm not a 'big fan' of robots, ninjas, etc but sometimes it can be entertaining. And I'm not one of those guys who wear costumes pretending to be a hero. Those are extremists.

Some anime actually have good stories, and that is what I find really attracting (Code Geass for example, it would suck if it was a movie). You can't find a C.C. IRL that looks just like her.

    P.S: Justice League is lame.

The fact that you watched and liked DBZ on your childhood states that you never really tried any other anime, so don't jump into conclusions.

Agreed I hate that when scrolling through the channels on my DVR tons of channels are being filled up with anime stuff. I think that it is immensely boring and stupid but thats my opinion I just hate when they take away from our shows.

What is with these anime fetishes?

The point of this thread wasn't to be like "anime blowz", I just didn't, and still don't understand the appeal. IMO, anime depicts humans terribly, and I don't understand how it is "better" than American cartoons.

Also, justice league was an example. I haven't watched a serious cartoon for years (now I watch family guy, south park, etc). Half of you kids skim over what I wrote and argue a point that no one cares about or is debating.

Also, someone explain to me anime porn appeal. I mean that's pretty low. You're just above the furfags and pedophiles on the social ladder, and that's pretty low. They're drawings. I gaurentee you I couldn't (despite skill level) draw a picture, and beat off to it. It's weird. Explain to me why a drawing is more attractive than an actual naked woman.

What is with these anime fetishes?

I've only enjoyed watching one Anime show in my life, which was Case Closed, but the English Dubs stopped at Episode 130. So I'm not into a lot of Anime and stuff like that. But the reason I watched that show was because it was really cleaver how some of the cases were, like no one would have ever figured out how someone would setup this type of case.

But anyways, the reason why a lot of people watch Anime is because the North American viewers think the show is interesting and it grabs them in and they like the appearance of the character. It's like having Zelda in a Mario game and Mario in a Zelda game, for example.

Also about your last paragraph. I think it's disgusting how people watch that stuff, in my opinion.

What is with these anime fetishes?

It all depends on a man's taste. Some people prefer watching blowjobs more than dick riding. It's weird to you because you have not yet developed any sort of love for anime.

What is with these anime fetishes?

Its because anime is more appealing and different to the American cartoons that we see on TV which are very predictable in their plots as in anime cartoons their plots are more complex with twists that add on to the excitement of the action displayed. Although I would never pretend to do fake kicks and spells like the kids you mentioned at your school =| .

What is with these anime fetishes?

I will not argue with you that anime porn is very low. It makes no sense at all. But regular anime has better character development and story development. The next time you watch South Park or Family Guy, think to yourself, "Do any of the past episodes even matter? Could I jump into this series without seeing any other episode?" Because I watch both of those shows as well, I know the answer is "Yes."
I'll use one of my animes as an example for the same questions. The show is called Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. It's about a boy who needs to train in several martial arts to fight off bullies and eventually a gang called Ragnarok. Now, when you watch an episode and he has to fight somebody, he will use quotes from past episodes, knowledge that he learned fighting a different opponent, and moves that he learned from his masters. You need a back story on everything that he does which makes the characters seem more real as they grow throughout the series.
