To many jellyfish?

I recently watched a program on Discovery about how the numbers of jellyfish are rapidly increasing near the waters of China and Japan.
Whats happening: Basically the pollution has provided a perfect environment for the species to thrive. Fisherman have been slaughtering the jellyfish but they just keep coming.

Also apparently the jellyfish "release" there eggs/sperm when they are frightened so the fisherman are just producing more (the eggs float to the bottom ware the environment gives them ample resources to produce.
Edit: Forgot to add that they say that they might show up in the USA/England and around the world.
Any thoughts?

 

Ew, jelly fish are disgusting. There's also tons of great whites
near Cape Cod because the increase in Seals

 

I think there should be more Sharks, so Shark Fin Soup would cost less, most delicious Chinese Soup I've ever had was Shark Fin Soup at a Chinese Restaurant. Anyways, it's odd how they're increasing a lot more, and it's more odd when they're frightened they release their eggs and sperm.

On topic: Well they could try to find something deadly for them , like a posion or w/e but without wasting the environment. Also i dont see any bad side of the jelly's in china. They will probably catch em and eat em!

Any poison killing one species has a 100% chance of killing many others.


They should just open more Aquariums in China or Jellyfish habitats.

 

My brother got stung by a jelli the other day when we went to the beach.

 

The ocean is a tough place to deal with problems, as we have seen with the oil spill in the gulf.

Small problems lead to bigger problems when we try to fix them in places we don't belong.

If the fishermen are making it worse, they should just stop. Simple.

 

I got stung by 1 of those little bastards 2 weeks ago.

Fisherman need to put their thinking caps on.

 

I was in Myrtle Beach 2 weeks ago and got stung a few times by dead ones on the beach, it sucks. I also went out in the ocean on some boat trip and I saw jellyfish every 5 feet.

 

I used to live right on the beach, I remember there would be hundreds of them for a few weeks during the year all over the place. They were harmless though thank god they didn't sting lol.

 

i was in the Florida Keys last summer scuba diving and whenever id see a jelly i'd try to cut him in half with this rubber band i had from my goggles. it worked really well and i feel that i have done my part for the environment.

 

Eww. Jellyfish are the worst living things.

All they do is float around the ocean and kill people, although when they get washed up on the beach they are entertaining to poke and/or throw at random strangers (Non poisonous obviously)

 

Eww... Personally I find jellyfish nasty, and to think that they are reproducing incredibly fast is not a comforting thought. :/

 

... Most jellyfish are not capable of killing someone. Only a select few will if they feel it necessary its there method of self defense. Also this MAY spread to the united states and England and around the world.

 

Not the ones I'm talking about. They are dead...Although there are a fair few Blue Bottle Jellyfish floating around our beaches and those things are deadly.

 

You have a higher chance of dieing from a freak balloon "accident" then getting killed by a jellyfish. Just give them their space and they will leave you alone. No need to provoke them by poking them etc.

If you want to get stung poke them. If you don't want to get stung leave them alone. If your going to poke them poke them with a stick and on the top

 

Living in Australia, Jellyfish are a common and painful experience. Blue Bottles are incredibly annoying to have sting you while surfing; I once had one caught in my wetsuit. Unfortunately, some jellyfish stings CAN be fatal, depending on the person. If I get stung by a BB, for example, it leaves an itchy red mark, but my mate's dad was stung and his ankle was in a CAST for weeks. He was allergic to the chemicals in the sting and his ankle was temporarily paralyzed.

Tldr; Cull the bastards.
