    Create a simple DVD with the use of Windows DVD Maker

    Making a DVD Via Windows DVD Maker

    [IMG] Note: This will be one of my several guides I will be using in my Application for UE, Please give Feedback accordingly! [IMG]

    Disclaimer
    Through this Guide, I do not in any way encourage the method of creating counterfeit or Pirated DVD's, I wish only to educate the reader's of how this is done, and honestly, if you give us the tools, Don't expect us not to use them.

    Required:
    Windows OS System; Vista or above, XP does not have pre-installed DVD Maker, however Windows is not the only OS that can burn DVD's, but it is the only OS that can do it via this method.
    A Blank DVD-R or DVD-RW, Disc.
    A DVD-RW Disc Drive.
    The Video you wish to Burn to Disc.

    Firstly, Run Windows DVD Maker, this can be Found by going to;
    Start -> All Programs -> Windows DVD Maker.
    [IMG]

    Once the Windows DVD Maker window appears, click "Choose Photos and Videos" then this will appear.
    [IMG]
    █ - This is the Disc Title of the DVD, However not the DVD Title, Normally, the Disc Title is only displayed when used in for example, a computer.
    █ - This is the amount of Minutes that Windows DVD Maker can burn to a DVD Disc, Which is equivalent to 2 and a half Hours.
    █ - This is what we will be using next,

    Click "Add Items,". This will show;
    [IMG]

    Locate the Video you want to burn to Disc, For Legal reasons Mainly, I will hide the Video I will be burning to disc. After click on the Video you wish to burn, It will now show as this;
    [IMG]

    Click "Next".
    Now, the next menu, on Default, shows a random scene from the movie, and when playing the DVD, this is a short loop of different scenes of the film, Therefore I have changed mine to one of the Menu's on the side, which you can do too.
    This is what it should look like;
    [IMG]

    But, we don't want the title to be the date the DVD was made, do we?
    This can all be changed, by clicking at the top "Menu Text". Which will display;
    [IMG]

    From Here you can change the Font, Title, and what is Displayed on the title.
    For the duration of this Tutorial, i have named my own DVD "Sythe; The Film."

    After finally deciding on how you want your DVD Menu to look, Make sure you have a Blank DVD-R/DVD-RW Disc in your DVD-R/RW Disc Drive. Then Click "Burn".
    [IMG]

    This will now appear, and if you hadn't guessed, 100% is when the DVD is complete, the DVD Burning takes roughly an hour. Do not Log off/Switch User/Shutdown/Restart/Hibernate Your PC, as this will damage the Burning of the DVD, and will ruin the disc.

    Just to end on a note, I am in no way promoting that Windows DVD Maker is the best way to burn DVD's for quality/and or efficiency, I am merely using the pre-installed programs received when installing/buying Retail Windows Vista/7.

    Thanks for Reading.

    I think the process is a bit straight forward, i mean you would have to be pretty new to computers or video creation to need a guide like this. None the less it is full of pictures, descriptive, and i found it easy to follow. 3/5 ;)

    I know its kinda straight forward, but alot of people ignore what they're given, and instead think they need programs like Nero.

    It's not a bad guide, but as said above it's extremely straight forward. I personally use Windows DVD Maker and I have very few problems with them (such as screen formats and that fun stuff). You should also include somewhere in your guide that it takes ages for the program to do all of the initial encoding to create the DVDs (it's fast after that - but yeah). The thread layout is pretty nice, the only minor suggestion I can give you is to use some color in the text to eliminate blocks of text. Make sure you only color (or even bold for that matter) important details so someone can quickly follow the pictures and skim through the text quickly. You might want to look into creating a guide on how to rip DVD's to your computer (legally owning the disc of course).

    Good luck with your application, keep up the good work. :)

    Thank you :'), I disliked the thought of using colour, imo it makes it look tacky, But I'll reconsider..

    And I'll add the encoding part, thanks!

    And You've read my mind, I was about to discuss how to Rip DVD's in my next Guide D:
