The issue is your somewhat correct. Newcomers to Sythe (3 months or less) seem to believe that post count is a major factor when it comes to trust. Older members understand that post count is only a term of activity.

in my honest opinion all it means is that you are actively talking in forums it really means nothing at all

I believe, that yes someone who has been on sythe for a long time and/or has many posts counts is more trustworthy. Even though you may say "Oh it doesn't matter" I bet you would still be more willing to trade and make a deal with someone who has a high post count/long member status as opposed to a low post count or new account.

Many people would say no to a trade with me because they see i have a low post count and i am a new member.

The Value of A High Post Count

Anyone who thinks post count doesn't matter is wrong, to an extent.

Post count, does matter, in a way.

Post count shows how active a person is in a forum, but doesn't necessarily mean we should trust them. But, the way it does matter is whether they are spamming post count or actually helping members out and posting rational answers to peoples questions and sensible comments on peoples threads.

For example, if we have a user going around in the runescape general posting 1 word comments, like "Yes" when someone asks if they should steal their mothers credit card and buy 100M from gold4rs, then they're obviously spamming for post count, which means they're probably trying to scam.

But, if we have a user going around in the user education section answering other user's questions and helping them out, that person's post count does, in a way, mean that they can earn trust through it.

So yes, I do thing post count matters, to an extent, depending on what the user is posting to get that post count.

I find people post things such as "Will not go first unless you have 1000+ posts" and I think they say this because most users try and use that as an excuse not to go first, and sucker many members into going first. I personally think vouches are the only form of trust on these forums.

I'd go with join date is more important and vouches. Because anyone can get a high post count it's if you're getting trusted via vouches and your join date will make known your activity.

I look at post counts, titles, shops, avatars, signatures grammar and overall history...

I think a person with 1000+ posts is less likely to scam in fear of losing that 1000+ posts

Pah that won't stop them. If you lost 1000 posts, but gained 200$, wouldn't you?

This isn't true. Someone could have signed up in 2007, opened a pin shop, gotten 200 vouches and quit a month later, never to touch Sythe again. That doesn't say active or trusted to me, just because they joined in 2007 and have 200 vouches, people change.

No matter what you say, post count and quality of posts tells you their level of activity and gives a small amount of trust, again, depending on the quality of their posts. This adds up with their vouches and join date to tell you exactly how trustworthy a member is.

Post count DOES matter, to an extent.

The Value of A High Post Count

Any one can gather up post counts if they put their mind to it. However being a member of the community takes time and dedication.

However i i do not see a correlation between these two elements and trustworthiness.

Obviously it has some kind of value since people actually measure by it, vouches, post count, and join date, are the things that comforts us, thinking "That person wouldn't put all that at risk"... Atleast for me..

you're raptor jesus, everyone will trust you.

It's kinda similar with a newcomer that has a $100 donater title and everyone is willing to go first to him.

The $100 shows that he is serious, and he's not willing to scam.

But alot of posts may mean something enspecially when the posts are acutally meaningful, like less blackmarket wise more community wise, that can acutally help you identify a person who isn't a scammer.

That's kinda my way of identifying a person, looking more in depth in the persons posts, kinda a stalkish way, but hey atleast i won't lose any money.

But yeah, it kinda depends on posts and detication, posts show that you acutally have plans to stay here.

But remember it really depends on the person, i guess it's all in the gut feeling.
