It is disgraceful, quite embarrassing that we subject ourself to such a tasteless act.

Does anyone here know what the objectives of the Qur’an and Islamic Fundamentalism are?

Incase you're not aware, they preach violence to those whom do not worship Allah and Islam as one of the true faiths. If those of you have forgotten, these "Fundamentalist" are the primary pinpoints for the attacks.

Those of you who attempt to debate the Qur’an as peaceful, I suggest you make an attempt to research your beliefs. The Qur’an are known for their deliberate and emergent strategies of causing chaos, the only non–violent passages are from the 7th century when Muhammad is located in Mecca, prior to his rise of power in Medina and that later verses negate these peaceful passages.

We subject ourself to the most possible discriminating beings imaginable due to our irrational acts of stupidity, we permit ourselves to these attacks for reasons such as this particular one which caused our nation to be enervated, hence our country being singled out as ineffectual.

I love how the second part of your statement allows you to not prove the first. Congratulations, you managed to say something bigoted against an entire group of people, but that's how racism (and, yes, I know this isn't entirely racism, but I couldn't find another word that suited the need for this situation) works: the most amount of hate for the least amount of reasoning--I'm not surprised that racism tends to find itself among ignorant and blatantly stupid groups of people.

You do realise that the US has effectively been at war for almost its entire existence?

"A mosque is a place of worship for followers of Islam..." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosque

If you say one religious place of worship shouldn't be built anywhere, you need to return the favor to all other places of worship around. However, you cannot do this politically because of the first amendment -- "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

In no way, shape, nor form does the construction of any place of religious building claim ownership of the land; unless, of course, the land is purchased for the purpose of erecting a mosque, church, etc. It's not disrespectful, too. There are highly Muslim-populated areas around the United States, and many are near Churches. There is no difference between these two, don't repress because of bigotries.

I honestly don't know why it's creating such a buzz. To me, it's just another building.

People need to relax and realize it's just a building.

okay, so if i go and bomb your house, kill your family, rape your sister and cut her head off (not in that order), then move in next door to you and act like nothing happened, you wouldn't find that disrespectful? The difference between this location and any other location in the world is obvious. Thats almost like putting a Japanese flag next to a WW2 veterans grave and saying its not disrespectful.

If you ask me it was Bush's conspiracy (Twin Towers), and blamed it on Muslims in order to start war for oil in Iraq and soon be it Iran....

There's nothing wrong with building a mosque or an religious building next to ground zero, unless your a narrow minded white american....

That would be disrespect from you, not from all those who have 70+mb download/sec (I'm using an example from a signature because I know you fit into this category). As the poster after you, Clashfan, said, extremists of the religion committed those crimes--not the religion itself. Moreover, there is an overwhelming population of people of Japanese descent that live in Hawaii, that served in the military, and suffered from the acts of the Japanese that bombed Pearl Harbor; I see no reasoning in disallowing Japanese flags being planted next to Japenese soldiers graves--it is their heritage, they deserve that much for protecting freedom.

Really? So you've read the Qu'ran, right? Do you mind re-stating some of the passages which "deliberate and emergent strategies of causing chaos"?
Just because a extremist group that happens to practice Islam attacked the US, does that mean every single individual in Islam is willing to do the same?
Besides, many of the individuals who will be visiting the mosque/community center are more liberal compared to the ones back in the Middle East.

I don't mind the mosque being built there. It shows that the US is a nation that accepts other cultures into their own.

I'm not saying i disapprove of this plan, but also i'd like to go into more depth about your "broken down bit"

9/11 was Americas biggest attack in this day and age, MANY people lost there lives and plenty are still grieving there loss. So it's a bit of a WHAT THE FUCK? when you see they've decided to build a mosque right next door to it just ten years on. I could understand why many people would hate the idea of this. Also to add that many 'muslims' class there terrorists as heroes and show us "cowards" what's what. When 9/11 happened i recall seeing videos of muslims DANCING in the streets of there countries because they were most certainly pleased, at seeing America wide open and getting raped. which is a very rare occasion. I myself am not an American, but i can definately understand why many will disapprove of this.. and it's doesn't make them 'narrow-minded, media-controlled, stereotypical idiots' if there reason is plausable, and not 'I HATE MUSLIMS', sort of thing?

I suppose you could see it that way, but if a religion or cult provokes someone to act a certain way, is it not the fault of the provoker as well as the one who acted upon it?

you seem to have misunderstood my reasoning. A better example that i should have used would be if you were to put a Nazi flag next to the grave of an American WW2 veteran, that would be disrespectful. They can have their mosque, but it should not be on the grave site of those that were killed because of their religions "extremists."

There is nothing wrong with having a Mosque there. Mosques are places of worship for perfectly fine religion. Just because some people interpret it incorrectly, doesn't mean that the religion is bad.

Arguing there should not be a mosque there is the same thing as arguing that there should be no church next to the site of the Oklahoma City Bombing, just because Timoth McVeigh, the Christian Terrorist, misinterpreted his own religion.

The terrorist attack isn't just 1 person misinterpreting something, its a large group of people that are acting upon their religious beliefs. Obviously they didn't like the place when they were attacking it, what makes it such a prime location now other than that it is somewhat of a victory site if looked at through the eyes of the extremists?
