When you buy from burst.net(cheapest place!), you only get the basic command line linux. Getting the GUI to work on a VPS can be rather tricky as you need to simulate graphics devices or pay big bux for a dedicated.

There are guides which show you how to do it for free.

Also: be wary of him changing the passwords and stealing your VPS. It's happened before to people.
