Can I host my own vent from my website?

Ok so I have a vent, and I have a website and im trying to cut down on money spending so I was wondering is there anyway I can HOST my ventrilo off of my website? I just dont feel like paying them anymore and I noticed some vents have there ip or hostname as the website its for.? But I know theres an option with some vent hosts that allow you to do that.

TLDR: Can I host ventrilo from my website? Any guides?

You can actually host a vent server from your own computer and it runs extremely well. Simply go to the ventrilo website and download the server software for your OS.

 

The thing is I dont want to have it running on my computer all the time.

Does anyone know if its possible to download those server files from vent and then upload them to my website?

 

That depends how much control you have over the server that is hosting your website.

 

If you generally have a webhosting package with a company, no, you will not be able to run your own Ventrilo server off the site. You will require a Linux server with SSH/VNC access or a Windows server with Remote Desktop capabilities in order to install a Ventrilo server.

However, there are many sites out there that will host a Ventrilo server for you. Go to Google and search "cheap ventrilo server hosting" or something like that and you'll find sites like NationVoice that will do this for you.

You can host a ventrilo server from your computer. Just download the server from the ventrilo site, and open the ports used by ventrilo. There should be some videos on youtube.

Keep in mind, this server can only take a maximum of 8 people.
