    What this promotes is gold sites to offer an incentive of some kind to their customers to join Sythe. The majority of these users will be ban evaders, which will now take staff time to ban. To the normal person such as myself I gain absolutely nothing from having some type of leaderboard or minirank for recruiting people because the chicks of the community obviously will be able to be at the top without any stressing.

    Gold sites having an incentive to bring their customers here is great.
    I don't know how you assumed the majority of them are ban evaders.

    I think that is fair that you believe you will gain nothing and didn't support for that reason.
    I guess I assumed people think about how it benefits the community when writing against these suggestions, because that benefits them in the long run.

    Ah. Those are called funranks and they’re extremely coveted. If staff declined a suggestion to make a minirank, there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell they approve a funrank for referrals, nor should they.

    No support from me on that.


    Here’s what I suggest: Sythe already has a high scores section for post count, likes, and trophy points. I think it would be great to add referrals there, if possible.

    It's great to be creative with suggestions.

    Things to consider:

    - Many companies that advertise on sythe already refer people to sythe by asking them to leave them a vouch (sometimes for extra gold/discount or similar incentive). They do this mainly to build their reputation (if they are in the early-mid stage), or to bump their market threads

    - Shops have managed to build up astronomical amounts of referrals over the years AND their place in the (suggested) high score is pretty much set in stone. People like Alch rarely close their business, and new people rarely shake the market dominance. To give an example, PartyPete has about 3.5k referrals.

    - The top 5 shops by referrals are no longer motivated by fancy fun ranks, and this wouldn't add much, if anything, to their incentive.

    However, I think it's good to have such a high score (without any reward) to motivate other people (monkey see, monkey do). I suppose it's easy enough to add, I can see Matthew agreeing to do it if asked nicely.

    We could do an event like this - [CDT] Referral Event! $$ Prizes for top 3!《Ends April 30th 11:59PM PST》 GLHF - any ideas on how to do this? It's CDT's job to come up with creative ideas, but I can tell you we're a bunch of boomers.
