Laptop Runs Slow.. :/

Well I got myself a new laptop, a Dell studio 1555.

It has got a Core 2 Duo T5800, 4gb ram and I've upgraded it to windows 7 64 bit.

But yet it runs slower than my old laptop, which didn't have near the spec, why is this?

Just running the neXus bot client and firefox and it is running extremely slow, and RS lags.

Can anybody help me here?

 

You might be plagued with viruses.

 

You could try and use task manager to end processes that are unnecessary

 

The only personal programs that I have open are msn/firefox/bot client, I'll try a virus scan, but I wouldn't think it was because I've only had it a few days.

 

Actually, new computers are the most prone to viruses since the owner hasn't had any time to install anti-virus software. After running a virus check, I suggest you download cccleaner which will help clean and delete all unnecessary files or programs you may be using.

You may have spyware on your computer. Try running a full scan with a program such as 'spybot search and destroy'.

 

Were you running Windows 7 64bit on your old one?
