You can't; it's a "compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness," "strangeness," "weirdness,".

Rene Descartes wrote a novel about how, since you can have doubt in your senses, you can't ever fully trust them and you can't call them true knowledge. After all, your senses lie to you all the time. Think about optical illusions for example.

Having a moment of when you feel like you have experienced this situation before or have felt like it's already happened.

There's no such thing as a memory that doesn't exist, or never happened..

    Déjà vu- How?

Religion way of looking to it : When you are going to be born before that you are a 'Spirit' they already show you whats going to happen and such and sometimes you remember it.

Science way of looking : Left and right brain work at the same time and you think that you have already known it or saw w/e.

I've always wondered this, how do you recount something that's happening at that moment?

Because you brain processes something the wrong way.

Usually you see something then you get the feeling.
When you get a deja vu you first get the feeling then you see it.

It mixes the 2 things up (processes it in the wrong order)

At least i think it works like that.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I seriously Lol'd. First time all day. HAHAHA. I love you now, k?

Pokemoners explained it pretty well. It's just you being convinced that it's similar to something you've thought of. In reality, you've probably had a thought of a situation like it before using your multiple senses considering your mind plays through billions of possible scenarios a day...

So it's not uncommon to at least have some expectations of what occurs.

    Déjà vu- How?

I always thought having a Déjà vu was because something happened in your brain where it didn't function correctly for a tiny amount of time?

Am I anywhere to being right?

Read/heard somewhere how it's possibly like a "Brain Relapse" or something along those lines. Above there was a post about how the left/right sides of the brain work simultaneously, and that can cause "memory" issues.
Sorry if that makes no sense >.> I'm not the best at explanations via text ;P

But yeah- I've felt "Deja Vu" multiple times, and it still brings me nothing but confusion :p

    Déjà vu- How?

With the processing of the brain, or left/right side, how would that explain the feeling of having it happen days or even weeks beforehand?

    Deja vu is just confusing.

How can you think that something happened before without it even happening?

I thought it was to do with the mix ups with the short and longterm memory. Like when you recall something instead of going straight into the short term memory it goes to the long term memory, and thus recalling something when it's essentialy just happened.

that's part of it. but how would you describe an event that has never occurred to you before but you can BET you saw all of it coming and knew exactly what was going to happen. Not talking about doing something wrong and getting an ass whoop.

    Déjà vu- How?

Yes, that is correct, So I've heard that it is the brain trying to make a connection to another event that happened in your life and cannot do so or has a mistake, Idk, research it on google. There is probably way more logical responses, and NO, it is not from some stupid spiritual crap that you recall from your "other life", I'm pretty sure "spirits" cannot remember crap as that's the brains job, lmao.

(religion way of looking at it) <-- You cannot have memories that are non-existant, if you already knew whats going to happen, then people would find a way to get those memories out by now, and we all could predict the future, but that is just un-logical and false.

This happens to me sometimes. You have a genuine feeling that you have been in this situation before. We can explain it because we can explain feelings like love, hate, remorse, etc. It is no different.

    Déjà vu- How?

I've had a friend explain to me their theory of this.

He believes that it occurs because you've previously dreamed of that very moment you are experiencing in the past. I think it makes sense, but most people experience déjà vu more than once in their life. And it doesn't seem quite plausible that this coincidence could occur that many times.
