Is gearscore really necessary?

Gear score is nothing, i just cry when i see people who sub ot a lower gearscore healer or something who has been known to do a hella lot better heals than the crappy higher GS replacement who dies in the fight straight away.

 

I, personally, absolutely hate the "Gearscore" AddOn. It's so overrated that it's unbelievable. All it does is looking at the "ilvl" and then give a number depending on how "high/low" it is.

You can be walking around with a mixture of PvE and PvP gear, and yet recieve an incredible high "score". What I've got against "Gearscore" is that it doesn't actually "caluclate" the stats themselves, or how well the gear is combined, all that matters is the item level.

I'm not sure how much gearscore has changed, but last time I tried it for the /gs thing to work, you would need to of seen the people before, for it to even load their gear (and even then, it could be outdated).


I'm still a firm believer of strategies/tactics (skills) before gearscore, because I've seen a lot of people fail on simple (ICC) bosses, because they never bothered to look at the tactics (yet they have incredible gearscore - not me leading GS raids).

 

Its quite simple, only accept people with 6k+ gs and a achievement.

 

Lol guys gearscore isn't going anywhere...it just calculates your average ITEM level and multiplies it...on some servers you can PUG LK25 12/12 with 4 HMs...do you think they wanna bring a 5k GS Prot pally?
Hell,try bringing a 5K GS prot pally into a ToGC25 and see how many hits it'll take until he gets one-shot.
Okay sure skill is SOME times better than gear but....when a ADD on Anub'arak ToGC25 one-shots your 5k gs tank have fun.

 

I doubt anyone would do LK without inspecting the players (which therefore makes GearScore useless). (On my server, when ANY decent groups go ICC, they ask to inspect rather than "gearscore").

Achivements might be something to "look at", however, people can still be carried (lay dead trough a whole encounter) and still recieve the achivement. (Or even buy a great geared account, and not know shit).

(However, I find it funny how you use ToGC as an example, that just makes me laugh).

 

I'm not one of those players at all, i just know what i'm talking about. GS is for scrubs. The amount of people i see, for example, taking Librams from the frost vendor cause it's an extra 60GS, rather than 60gs lower ones, which are Best in slot.

 

I realize this I'm not saying I think gearscore>inspect I'm just saying I know skill -SOMETIMES- comes over Gear but if a mob is hitting for you 22k ever 2.2 seconds with additional dots and you have 40k health buffed you're gonna down fast...I was just using GS as a example...and even if gearscore got broken by blizzard like I said people would just ask you for a achievement...I'm not a fan of gearscore,was just using it as a example...and why do you laugh that I use togc as a example?

Yes gearscore is neccesary only for Pugs though, if you are running a guild run then gearscore isnt as neccessary as it is for pugs, so quit ur bitching and go get some gear
