I for one being an atheist hate it when someone comes along and tries to "save" me. I do not need to be saved I like my religious beliefs, and don't want to be persuaded.

Theists trying to save you only means that they care enough about you to spend time converting you.

Some guy came up to me and asked if I had been saved. I told him "I already hit a checkpoint a couple minutes ago. Thanks anyway." He was confused.

I believe that being saved means an individual has to come to terms with their beliefs on their own, meaning persuasion isn't necessary. If someone has a mindset that is stuck on atheism, it's going to take more than a stranger preaching to them to convert them.

So, I have to agree with you on this.

Yes, but most of the time the are very persistent, and will not take no for an answer. It can become very annoying with people trying to "spread the word of god" and "Saving other people". I have made the choice to be an atheist and dont want to be converted.

Atheism is a religion in itself, it doesn't just mean you don't believe in god/a god. I do hate religious persuasion however; so yes I hate it.

If someone you cared about was going to jump off a cliff, and you said don't, but he said no, would you give up?

A friend trying to kill themselves and religious conversion are two totally different subjects, don't associate them with each other.

Christians believe that not believing in God is the same as someone killing themself.

no, they believe that if you don't convert you will burn in a lake of fire for eternity, and I wish my religion was cool enough to need to scare people into following it.

Because of one's choices, however, is why someone will "burn in a lake of fire for eternity." So basically, it's like jumping off a cliff without knowing it could kill you, if that makes any sense.

No, it doesn't make sense. When someone jumps off a cliff anyone can see the danger, the fact that I'm not catholic only means i'm damned in the eyes of that religion. So try again? lol

Okay, so maybe the cliff thing was a bad simile. Non-Christians can very well see the danger of not believing, but they choose to reject that the danger is present.

Eh, who are you to say that we are the ones making the wrong choice? The only reason you believe what you do is because somebody has told you. Organized religion is a great way to scam people. You tell them all these things about god and how wonderful he is but if you don't listen to what he says you go to hell, but the only way to listen to him is to pay to hear what he has to say in a church or a bible. It is all really business, even the creator of the Scientology religion said the best way to make money is to make up a religion.

See, that's the thing. I'm not one to say you're wrong. And vice versa. Neither of us has proof that God does or does not exist. But that's not what this thread is about.

Also, I'm not making up the rules. I doubt anyone wants non-believers to spend an eternity in Hell. All the "converters" are doing is preaching God's word.
Since when do you have to pay to go to church?

Well to the point of the thread, we understand what you think is going to happen to us but are stern to thinking that you are the incorrect one, so leave us alone. lol.

Oh and some churches require percentage of income for you to attend.

I understand. If I was an atheist (or some other non-Christian,) I doubt I would ever convert based on some crazy religious person saying that I'm damned to an eternity in the lake of fire.

That's ridiculous. That defeats the whole purpose of church. Heck, they aren't even real churches if they do that.

    So, I guess the argument's over? :'(

haha I guess we see eye to eye on both situations. I'm just too logical of a person to just believe in something based on a simple scare tactic.

Any religious retard would be annoyed if another religious retard tried to force their beliefs on them. I'm not sure why believers are so quick to attack Atheists.

During school I could utter the phrase, "I don't believe in god" and would be confronted by idiots who froth at the mouth over bible-talk on how I'm "going to help" and how they're going to save me.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm going to reborn into vast, lush, beautiful heaven if I blame my ignorance on an imaginary figure. Pretty sure I got over that when I was 5.

But I've apparently signed my soul to the devil and attended Satan camp for not believing in God.

    It's annoying

I'm a Roman Catholic, probably the only one in the SFA forum tbh. I don't ever try to force my religion on others. I respect whatever your choice is, as long as you respect mine in return.

How are they scamming people? They sure as hell aren't getting any money out of it. Almost all, if not all churches. Are non-profit organizations. It's not like were living in the middle ages where church officials have loads of power.

I've never heard of, or been to a church that charges you. They take donations. You're never forced to pay.
