How do you get over a girl?

I'm going to try and make this as brief as possible.

I'm 17.

My girlfriend and I broke up after a year and 9 months.

We broke up because of school (she graduated this year and is moving a few hours away and I don't graduate for another year and I want to go to school more North.)

We agreed to zero contact because we both don't believe in "just friends".

I find it really hard to move on since she was my first everything basically.


Things I've done:
Removed pictures from facebook/myspace.
Clean out ENTIRE ROOM of old stuff.
Remove her entirely from my computer (except the one folder with all of the old pictures.)
Blocked eachother.

Things that constantly remind me of her:

The folder in my computer with our pictures.
My e-mail (since alot of e-mails in it contain her, something to do with her, or old e-mails have pictures of us.)
My wall (since we painted it together, there is even a faded "I <3 U" on my wall -.-)
Music (can't really change that.)
Old clothing.

Any advice?

Focusing on 'winning the breakup'. Get in the best shape you've ever been, then when you next see her, she'll regret ever breaking up with you. Or just turn all your sadness into hate. Thats what i'd do.

Well it's your choice on what to do:

Forget about her.

Talk to her and see what can you do.

 

Well if you still feel something for her ( i don't think so u broke up with a rediculous reason), And u know that she feels something for u to and u know it 100% sure try to make up.

Otherwise get a replacement there are enough fishs in the sea.

 

Good luck with that man :S I was in love with a girl for 5 years until she moved away and started going to a college 5 hours away :\ I've been hung up her since she moved. Not a day goes by that something doesn't make me think of her. Whether it be a picture, something I say that made her laugh, etc. I don't think you ever truly "get over" someone. You only shove them in the back of your mind and bury them with thoughts of other things.

It seems like your reasons for breaking up are valid. They definitely aren't a reason you two should go to the extremes of blocking each other. Is there a reason you two want to avoid each other that you aren't telling us of? Zero contact for a relationship that lasted for over a year is a bit immature. Even if you aren't going out with her, i'm sure you still care about her.

 

and I still do care about her. But I believe that if I kept in contact I would miss her even more and have the need to see her. We agreed to talk again but not until we feel that it's right.
