Lord of The Rings Online goes F2P

All Images are taken from an Inspiron 1721 running Windows Vista.

Lord of The Rings recently announced that they will be moving to the Free To Play option in Fall. This was a major announcement to the fan base of LOTRO. With most if not all of the player base, active subscribed members. Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar originally opened April 24, 2007. Since then, they have release two expansions for the game, Mines of Moria and Siege of Mirkwood. The game follows no exact storyline from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is thought to have started shortly after the end of The Hobbit.

    The Store

The store seems extremely costly. As I believe the cost of Turbine points is around $5 per 1,000 a mount would cost around $10. This is about half the cost of the World of Warcraft mounts on their store. Here is the one catch: each mount can only be used on one character. To get another mount, you would have to purchase another one, for $10.

    The Upsides
-Pretty good graphics for a Free to Play game
-Supreme story line. Tops all other games
    -Great community. No children whatsoever.
    -Very few Gold Sellers
    -In Game Housing
    -Mount System
-To get a premium account you only have to spend $14.95 one time

    The Downsides
-The Online Store is very costly
-You are only allowed to make one character without spending money
-You can only have 3 bags (20 slots each) without purchasing
-You cannot trade other players gold or send C.O.D payments without a premium account
-You cannot use the auction house without purchasing extra slots
-In game gold doesn't buy any of the above
-The things you can buy with gold are very expensive
-The gold cap is 4 g with the upgrade. A kin (guild) house costs 17g. You are forced to buy a premium house to buy one of these.

    My Overall Rating: 4/5

Im dreading this. I hope the servers don't fall apart because of the weenies they're letting in. I quite like Brandywine without the WoW-ers.

It's actually a great game. I don't know what F2P is going to do to the game, but I would assume that it will develop into Runescape.

The beta is almost over. I would expect a game that plays like WoW, but with an attached item store. The control are much easier to use then Runes of Magic also.

If you think about the profit increase they made from DDO moving to F2p, It would be stupid not to.
