Phishing- Huh?

I was hanging out in the Dispute forums just looking through all the bans for scamming etc, and then I came across one I found odd. He said that he was IP banned for phishing on Runescape, so you guys banned him?

I don't understand this, why if you even MENTION anything about you phishing you get banned? I don't believe that just because he stated that he was banned for it that warrants a ban.

I can understand if he was phishing members of Sythe directly, or sending people RATs etc.

I can see how you don't want phishers talking about all the successful ones they've done, but why not just warn them or give a mute? Banning seems a little extreme, especially in the case mentioned above.

Can someone clarify?

 

If we find one of our members phishing anywhere, it's a permanent ban. It's an indication of bad character, especially since the person who's ban you're referring to was making a point of bragging and gloating about the fact that he was phishing. It makes sense to keep a potential phisher out of our midsts. We also ban users for keylogging in other places (refer to Lukef555) and any other suspicious or malicious activity they are involved in outside Sythe.

There was a lengthy discussion about this.

 

We do ban anyone committing a somewhat serious cyber-crime. Simply because our site, unlike other cheating communities, are legal.

 

If I killed a man in America and came back to New Zealand, what do you think the New Zealand government would do with me?

This is just going to be another same same thread where a bunch of users begin debating why users are banned/twc'd for activities out side of Sythe - I'd rather just have it closed now that the question has been resolved, and before any problems arise.
