[Xbox 360]My fan won't stay on..

I got the three rings of death a few days ago and today I attempted to fix it, all went well until the fan wouldn't stay on it comes on for about 5 seconds extremely fast then shuts off and the two red lights continue to flash.

    Any advice?

Sounds like overheating, or something hasn't been seated correctly (or has been pushed out of place).

Is it too late to get warranty?

He might not want to lose his xbox for 2 weeks for them to fix it.

Dont jump to assumptions so easily.

Ive heard ( from xbox live buddys )

Put it in a black trashbag, leave it out in the sun ( so it gets really hot )

Then put it in the freezer for afew hours, and you should be able to play it.

2 of my friends have had success with this, try at your own risk i guess.

No Offence to you bro just helping him and everyone who reads this out.

THIS IS A VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD IDEA!!
Everywhere you go there is different climate of course we all know this.
So let's say...personally I live in Maryland.. So here it can get to about 90 degrees or so on average.
Now say you lived in Arizona... well long story short.. your shit WILL MELT.
If you were to do anything wrap it up in a towel even though this is risky cause the wire casing will melt but that would be safer than any of the above. I personally have the same problem and have not been able to fix it so far.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I finally got it to work, but it went back to the RRoD and the warranty has expired. So I'll probably end up buying a new one.

Do not put it in the freezer you will just mess it up even more also, if you do fix it and its up and running make sure its not near anything hot, such as a heater or near a window as xbox 360's are designed for room tempature.

Hi my friend, How did you attempt to fix it? if you used the towel trick then im sorry heat gunning the gpu and cpu is the only way of fixing the problem then apply heat sync paste and x-clamp Bolts and screws, Please look up a tutorial on google on how to do so, Your 2 red ring problem indicates over-heating this is why i think you have done the towel trick, However if you have done a X-clamp fix and it does this then take the screws out and then screw them 360 degrees each into the heat syncs, For example take on screw place in hole screw 360 degrees then go to another screw and repeat then just keep doing the 360 degrees turns until the screws are locked tight to the heat sync this will eliminate your 2 red rings :) Hope this helped.

    To save you time:

    Part 3.

Id just like to indicate, This fix is a Perminant fix.

You should probably try methods to fixing the RROD before replacing the fan. And if replacing the fan doesn't work, then it's about time that you get rid of your Xbox 360 and buy a new one, or a PS3 for that matter.

Id just like to aloborate.. Mate Xbox fans unless obviously damaged do not break, If the fan blade is broken or jammed or wires are snapped etc then they are, However he says it spins up fast stalls and gives him 2 light error. Meaning its over heating, His fans are fine its just that the gpu is raised and the heat tracer on the gpu is saying he has a hot fault. the links above will render his xbox perfectly working within a hour.
