Why cannot we compel ourselves to use our time better?

Why do we allow procrastination to overcome our lives so we surf websites such as sythe and play Runescape instead of studying, or learning a new skill/instrument which is a lot more better time spent?

Why cannot we compel ourselves to use our time better?

Because playing RuneScape or going on Sythe is more intersting and appealing than studying, etc.

My (Probably the same for most people) goal in life is to have fun. In order to achieve this goal, I must do things of which entertain me. Hence, I browse Sythe, play Runescape and play Warcraft 3 in my spare time.

Humans require enjoyment in life. Learning these skills do not seem amusing to most of us. And actually, we do learn something playing games, etc.

Indeed. I've probably learnt more spending time on the computer than I have in school. You learn real life skills, aswell as extending your vocabulary and learning how to use grammar appropriately.

I honestly sometimes think of this in the same way. I live a very short life, so why do I spend my time on a virtual game which I gain nothing from (except the occassional general knowledge).
I often think why I don't just spend my time studying, becoming the most intelligent individual I can be. But I carry on playing these games. >_<

A hypocrite indeed, but I'm no different. The fact of the matter is that everyone has their own methods of "wasting" time, whether it be gaming, reading, work, or just plain out living life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, therefore they are entitled to their own methods of consuming time.
