Do You Have "Rights" After your Dead?

If a person has a will usually they have rights over what they want to be done. If not it is a family choice and someetimes that gets dicey when family members don't agree.....Widowed wife wants one thing and the childern another.

 

You can write your body off in your will just as you can with your other possessions, but someone who is no longer on Earth can't own anything.

 

Why don't you just repeat what people have said already. Honestly, I gave my answer, and everyone says the exact same thing.

 

I havn't read the posts in the thread, but you can write in your will what you want to happen after death.

Return the energy you were borrowing from the universe. That is the only right you have, and it's already taken care for you, the moment you die.

Other than that, there are no 'rights'.

 

As far as I'm concerned if you're dead anything is free reign. If you want to bop with old Grandma Betty Booper's corpse then have at er. Besides it's also safer, the risk of STD's and STI's are greatly reduced.

 

What exactly is returned the moment you die?

 

I specified that your body is your possession during this life and, in order to choose what happens to it, you must write it off to a family member just as you would a vase, but that after you've passed on you have no right to property.

All of our natural rights are derived from the idea of self-ownership. Because we cease to exist in death, we do not retain any of our natural rights.

 

There cannot be a definate answer to this, I think. It's not the government's place to intervene in religion, which I believe, is something very relevant to the concept of death. I'm not sure how the government defines "legally dead" at this point, but personally I don't think one can really say whether or not someone is dead. Personally I don't believe we know enough about what life "is" to say whether or not the dead have rights.

For example, I believe life is something organic; meaning that if the conditions for life are there, life shall occur. If that is in fact the case, and I'm not claiming to be right, that means that death could technically be considered nothing more than a sickness. In that case, the dead would assume the same rights as the living.

If I'm wrong and life is something spiritual, then we wouldn't have any rights beyond that of our will, because our bodies would become as insignificant as the ground we're buried in.

Show me a dead person who can defend their rights, and I'll show you a dead person who has rights.

While I'd like to choose how my corpse is destroyed once I've died, I really don't have much say in the matter once I'm dead. Who am I to determine what's best to happen to my corpse when I can't even properly assess the situation of my death?

People also call self-ownership a natural right.

I just leave it at self-ownership and nothing more.

When you're alive, you control your body, so you say what goes.

When you're dead, you don't.

 

If you can stand up, as a rational entity, and can prove that governments have an obligation to uphold your rights, then you deserve them.

Show me a dead body that can stand up.

 

In My opinion they dont have rights. mainly becuase if they die suddenly. then who ever is your life guardian pretty much decides what happens. wether your mom, dad or spouse. they decide where your items go how your buried. thats bull crap. alot of deaths are people that dont have a will yet, because they are young or because of some other unkown reason. :/

Once you die you can not be Defamed ect.. None of the torts apply
