How to find a users profile by their username

This is my first guide in a good while. I'll explain how to find a users profile by their username in a quick way.

Some may say "this guide is too short", well, that's the point! A quick way to find a users profile. Some may know this, others may not. But this is, unlike many other guides, useful.

When is it useful?

Say you're talking with someone on MSN, and you wonder who that person really is on Sythe incase you want to trade with him/her. They can tell you their username, but not many people are walking around remembering the link to their profile.


In this example we'll find my profile (Sindrefyrn).


Step 1 - Opening forum search.



The first thing you want to do is open search. To do this, press "Search" on the top of the page, and then "Advanced Search".


Step 2 - Searching for a username.

This will get you to a page looking like this:



Under "User Name" (green rectangle), type in the account's exact name.

Then press "Search now" (red rectangle).


Step 4 - Opening the profile.

This will send you to a page with "search results", don't worry about all the threads listed. On top of the list, there will be a link to the users profile.




That's it. You found the profile.

I like this a lot. As I told you before, I had to learn this the hard way awhile back. I'm glad you made a thread on this as it will help a lot of users quickly search a profile to view posts/threads of the user before trading with them in minimal time =)

I'd have to give this a 10/10 even though it's short, but as you said that's the point. I can't say there needs to be more detail because your pictures are in clear detail from start to finish =) Keep up the good work

It's a good guide for people who randomly get added by others, but I spotted two mistakes.

First one's grammatical. It should be, 'Say, you're talking with someone on MSN, and you wonder who that person really is on Sythe in case you want to trade with him/her.'

The second one is that you only searched the username. Your guide was meant to teach us (even though the title says otherwise, the quote I made earlier should explain it) how to find profiles whose names you don't even know. The way to do this is to Google their addresses. Of course, you can only find people who have stated their MSN at least in one of their posts, or has it in their profile.

Other than that, it's a good guide, has rightly sized pictures, is straight to the point and the color is nice.

Well, the quote was misleading, I understand that now. But it's, as the title says, meant to find a users profile by their username. It's easier to ask them about their username then Googling the MSN.
