OSRS Account Buying/ Jagex Character import

If I were to buy an osrs account and import it using the new Jagex Account import. Does it basically make the account unrecoverable? Will there still be a way for the OO to recover the account once it becomes a Jagex Account.

 

From what I heard, it is no longer recoverable through recoveries but by placing a ticket with jagex and proving ownership.

also do you know anyone who were able to recover using ticket for account that got exported to jagex account

 

Yes. One dude I spoke with was successful. He said he spoke with a few others and they weren’t so. I think now account selling is risky on both sides instead of it being one sided.

 

as of right now, pretty much.

not sure how much of the new system is being seen by jagex, or how much is being automated, but ive heard of alot of different experiences with it so far

basically, the account will still be able to be recovered as usual

also if the account is deemed to be stolen or hacked or serviced (in case of an account being sold, it would likely fall into this category) jagex has started to take note and can ban the entire jagex account (all accounts linked to it) for RWT if they find the account isnt your own.

the proving ownership part is still odd, it seems like the chances of an appeal are just as random as with the regular old appeal system, some may get it back, some may not, and the jagex account may or may not face consequences.

overall, its really risky and the seller can still recover as always, and may also risk their own account in the process, thus losing an account if they get scammed or have some sort of warranty / buy back / repayment issue going on.

likewise to the buyer, their jagex account could be in trouble if a jagex staff looks into the purchased account and decides to remove it from the jagex account. you could lose the account you bought, or worse, lose your entire jagex account if jagex thinks you stole it or considers it RWT.

as of right now, i recommend totally avoiding the new jagex account system altogether until it becomes mandatory or until the system is tried and consistent enough + we know how it works.

THE OO CAN ALWAYS RECOVER THE ACCOUNT. IT MIGHT BE HARDER WITH THE NEW SYSTEM, BUT IT IS ALWAYS A RISK AND THEY 100% WILL EVENTUALLY SUCCEED IN EITHER RECOVERING IT, OR GETTING IT BANNED/LOCKED/FLAGGED IN THE PROCESS! - ALWAYS BUY WITH CAUTION AND MAKE SURE THE SELLER IS TRUSTED 100%!!!!!
