Anyone have a job in the field?

Right now I'm studying c/c++ as a part of my software development course. I was wondering if anyone had a job programming with c/c++ to get some info on the kind of programs you work on/tasks you do. Right now I have a job as a developer programming in vb6/c#. Just curious on whether working with bigger c/c++ apps gives you a giant headache.

I interned at one last summer. Most of the work I did was web-related, but they did have me working on a huge project written entirely in perl. And let me tell you, that is NOT what you want to be doing. Thousands and thousands of lines of code in tons of files all over the place... It was easy, but that's not what I was doing for most of the time.

If you want to program in the industry, stick to web programming. It's the most fun :D

It's not too bad, I wish the company I work for used PHP, but I guess .NET suits their needs better.

I suggest you put them on your resume and leave. You'll be doing yourself a favor finding a place where you work with something you like.

The best way is to meet people. The more people you know, the easier it will be for you to get a job. A teacher at my school referred me to the internship. I met a lot of people working there and actually got a few more jobs.

If you for some reason can't meet people, come up with a resume and send it to everybody.

I'm only staying there for two more months anyway, moving to a bigger city to get my degree. This job will be my rent/food/transportation money.
