Ancient Effigies

So recently i just acquired a 'starved' ancient effigy and i am very unfamiliar with the item as it is a post-2010 release.

Basically, these offer experience exclusive to the skill it is nourished with? I have 99 crafting and cooking, so i COULD nourish it with either of the two skills... but would this be pointless? Say i get someone to assist me with 99 farming because i have 42 farming- would i receive 15K exp in farming?

From what i gather its more beneficial to use this on a lower leveled skill-hence getting someone to assist you rather than wasting the experience on a skill already maxed. Does this sound about right?


EDIT: So i just investigated the effigy- looks like i spoke too soon. Im given the choice of either hunter or herblore, and because herblore is more expensive to train im going to go with this. It tells me to seek someone in the varrock museum, do i just follow its steps or simply get someone with 99 herblore to assist me right off the bat?

 

if i heard right its you take the thing to varrock museum and my friend said you get 1k xp lamps worth of xp in a certain skill

 

If you require assitance they get the exp. If you do it by your self you get the exp. At the end you get an exp lamp that gives (level)^3 / 20.

Starved ancient effigy -15,000
Nourished ancient effigy - 20,000
Sated ancient effigy - 25,000
Gorged ancient effigy - 30,000

 

You do not get any experience from it if you get it assisted. The person assisting gets the EXP. You will have to nourish it like 4 or 5 times I think before it becomes a dragonkin lamp, which you can use on any skill you'd like. I don't know the exact formula for how much EXP you get from the dragonkin lamp, you'd have to look that up yourself. I wouldn't suggest turning it into the museum, because the EXP is pretty useful.

So whats the point of having someone assist you if you don't gain the exp?

I don't understand, you're all telling me not to take it to the museum? What exactly do i do then..

 

At the end after you give it knowlage 4 times you get the dragonkin lamp which gives (level)^3/20 exp which is well worth it. For example - (50)^3/20 = 6250 exp. Higher it is the more exp you get.

Because it turns into a dragonkin lamp, which you can use. Do the skills you can, assist the ones you cant, then use the dragonkin lamp on whatever you want.

 

Well i have 1 hunter and 30 herblore so i don't suppose i can do much independently. I guess i just have to get four people to assist me consecutively and then it will transform into the lamp?

 

Yup. Its well worth the lamp. I had one and it got me 8.7k exp i think.

 

Whats the alternative to the lamp?

 

There is no alternative you get a lamp at the end whether you decide to get assisted or not.
