    A Basketball guide [Shooting]

Welcome to Chriscross23's first guide. Please bare with me as it is my first guide I've ever made. Well I was browsing through these guides and I didn't notice one on basketball. I realized, well I played varsity Basketball Junior and sophomore year (senior year coming up), so I might as well see if I can help anyone else.

First of all, shooting a basketball can be one of the toughest things you can do. You must have the precision to make a ball go inside a hoop that is 10 feet above the ground. One of the things you must remember about shooting is it is all about two things. Form/technique and repetition. In this guide I will be explaining how to use perfect form and how to ensure that your shot is a guaranteed improvment.

The first thing I will be going over is form and technique. First of all form is the most important thing for a shot. First thing you should always make sure is that your shoulders should be paralel to your feet. Take one of the greatest shooters and look at how precisely paralel his feet and shoulders are. This is a perfectly straight line from shoulders to feet
    [IMG].
The second thing with form is that your knees are slightly bent. A great misconception is that all of your shot power comes from your arms. That is 100% incorrect, your arms are worthless during your shot. All of your shot power come from your legs and the spring in your jump. For the perfect bend I will show this picture. His shins are angled inwards so that he can get an almost perfect 90 degree angle in his shot. This is almost exactly perfect shot form for your legs.
Third of all, you must make sure your elbow is bent at a 90 degree angle until you release the ball. While releasing the ball you simultaneously straighten out your elbow and flick your wrist. As this picture clearly shows the proper technique
    [IMG].
That is really all you need for form and technique now I'm on to repetition

The second and last thing you must remember is repetition. Repetition is everything when it comes down to a basketball shot. As Ray Allen once said “I used to practice my same shot to hit the same part of the hoop every single day”. Ray Allen is one of the best shooters to ever play in the NBA. To ensure your shot stays flawless make sure that you do the following: Always release your shot at the same point of your jump. Never try to correct your shot while in mid air. Always make sure you do the same joint movements (elbow/wrist/knees). Also, every time you shoot you want to be aiming for the same spot. The best spot to aim for is the back of the rim. Do not practice double pumping while you are just learning.

In conclusion, I know this was a short guide but it covers everything that is ever needed to have an amazing shot. Oh yeah and all that “practice makes perfect” is the perfect phrase to use for shooting. So hey, Practice makes perfect guys

This is a very good guide with a useful purpose. I like how you included pictures to describe what you wanted to say.

The color of the text is very annoying, and it'd be good to keep it at 1-2 colors at most. I'd also include other various ways and techniques to shooting a basketball. I know it doesn't take much to shoot a basketball, but it might help for some of the beginners.

With this type of guide, it'd be best to make a video to go along with this guide. It'd be a top notch guide if you did so.

Just a few grammatical errors, but overall, a good starter guide.

I'm glad that you gave your opinion. Michael Jordan in my opinion and the opinion of many others has the best fundamental jump shot.

I think this is a decent guide.

    Points you can improve on:

    1. Color - the overall color choice of the guide is a bit hard to read. For instance:

The purple makes the text pretty difficult to read. Maybe it's best to just stick with the default color, white.

    2. Steps in a list - I think your guide would be much more organized if you listed the step in this format:
      1. Step 1
      2. Step 2
      3. Step 3
      4. [/LIST]

This would make the transition from each step much more smoothly, also making it more convenient for the reader to navigate.

    3. Not centering the text - I noticed some of your paragraphs were centered. Though it may seem more decorative, it also reduced the professionalism in your work. You write left-aligned text in school and in your workplace, so why not in the "User Education"?

Overall, it's a rather decent guide.
