    Introduction
Far to the west, upon an island long isolated from the rest of RuneScape, two great creatures vie for control of a powerful obelisk but without any clear victor. Recently, a curious man upon a strange pilgrimage found the island and, for his own obscure purposes, has opened the field of battle to any who wish to pit their mettle against the smaller creatures of the island, other adventurers, or even the mighty avatars themselves...

    What is Soul Wars?
Soul Wars is a mini-game where you can gain very fast experience. Every time you win a game you're earning 3 zeal points, Draws are worth 2 zeal points and losing is worth 1 zeal point. You can use those zeal points to get experience, charms, summoning pets or to gamble!

This mini-game is safe so you aren't risking loss of any item(s), this means that you can get your best gear to this mini-game to kill other players. You cannot take any capes, food or other non-combat equipment into Soul Wars, but you should come prepared for battle. Potions and familiars are permitted, and will undoubtedly prove to be very useful when the battle gets rough.
Soul Wars is a mini-game where you've got to kill an avatar. You'll win depending on How high your slayer level is, how fast you can kill it, and how many times you kill it. More information about this can you read at 'The mini-game'.

When you first arrive on the island, you will encounter Nomad and his imp familiar. Nomad will offer you a quick tour of the field of battle along with a brief explanation, or a book that explains the basics of fighting in the Soul Wars.

    Requirements:
There are no specific requirements to take part in the Soul Wars, but a high Slayer level and good Combat skills would be a distinct advantage.

    Getting there
To get to the mini-game you must go in the portal which is located in Edgeville.

When you enter this portal you will be on an island where the mini-game is.
Here is a picture of the island:

    Waiting room
Only one game can be played at any one time per world, but in theory every single player on that world could be taking part. Games last twenty minutes, with a minimum of three minute waiting period in between, so you may have to wait for the previous game to end before you can get in. If you're keen to join in, however, you can enter a portal, and once per minute new soldiers can be added to the battle provided the number of adventurers on each team remains equal.

You can join the red team by passing this barrier:

You can join the blue team by passing this barrier:

This portal will send you to the team with the least amount of players in it!

    Screen information:

    Legend:
    1. This is the status from the west graveyard. It's now colored blue so this means that the blue team got this graveyard.
    2. This is the status from the obelisk. The obelisk is in the middle of the game. You need this to win the game (to get the required slayer level to attack the avatar down). The blue team got this obelisk now so they are leading the game!
    3. This is the status from the east graveyard. It's now colored red so this means that the red team has control over this graveyard.
    4. This bar shows how it is going (You see its colored blue, when red is taking it over, first the blue bar will get white and then slowly red.

You can get the square to your team color when there are more players from your team in the area. When there are more red team players than blue at the obelisk, then the red team will take over the obelisk and they will be leading the game.

At the right side of your screen you see some more information:

    Avatar deaths
At the picture above here you can see its:
    0 - 1
This means that the avatar from the red team has been killed once. So the blue team is leading the game because the team that defeats the enemies avatar more is winning the game!

    Avatar level
    100 - 0
This means that you need level 100 slayer to attack the avatar from the blue team, and you need a slayer level of 0 to defeat the avatar from the red team. Blue can kill the avatar from the red team so they have a chance to score another point.

    Avatar health
    100% - 90%
The picture shows that the avatar from the blue team is full health (100%), how ever the avatar from the red team only has 90% of it's health left! The blue team can still attack the avatar from the red team, so it will decrease very soon if they don't take action by taking over the obelisk!

    Time left
    6
This shows how much time until the game is over. In this situation it is 6 minutes left before the end of the game.

    In-game Items
Your base's supply area contains bandages, barricades and explosive potions, all of which are useful for ensuring the battle favors your side.

You cannot trade in Soul Wars, but you can use bandages on your team-mates to heal some of their lost Hitpoints. Equally, you can use them yourself for the same benefit. You can carry as many bandages as you have free inventory space. Bandages heal 10% of your Hitpoints and restores 50% of your energy. It will also cure your poison! TIP: Click the bottom bandage many times and the ones on the top will heal you extremely fast.

Along with the bandages, you'll discover that your base also has a table full of barricades. You can only carry one barricade at a time, and your team can only have ten barricades set up at once. You can set up a barricade in many places to hinder your opponents by simply clicking it in your inventory. If you find a barricade blocking your path, you can attack it or use explosives to remove the obstacle.

Explosive potions can be used on your enemies' barricades to destroy them in a single blast. You can carry as many explosive potions as you have inventory space.

In order to kill your opponents' avatar, you must first weaken it to enable as many of your team-mates to fight it as possible. This is done by killing the jellies and pyrefiends around the main battlefield and offering the resulting soul fragments to the Soul Obelisk. The more fragments you offer, the lower the Slayer requirement will be, as noted by the 'Avatar Level' entry in the top-right of your window.

You can get the items in-game in the supply's area. (On both sides of the game you have one supply area).

    The mini-game (area)

    Legend:
Blue: Avatar from the blue team!
Dark blue: Start point from the Blue team!
    Green: Supply Areas
    Light blue: Graveyard
Yellow: Slayer monsters (To get soul fragments).
    White: Obelisk
    Light red: Graveyard
Dark red: Start point for the Red team!
Red: Avatar from the red team!

    Obelisk
The obelisk is one of the things you've got to get to win this game. On the screen you will see the obelisk in a square. You have to make this square the color of your team. You need the obelisk to get down the required slayer level from the enemy's avatar by using soul fragments on the obelisk. Every Soul fragment that you or one of your team use on the obelisk will decrease the slayer requirement. You can use your Soul Fragments on the obelisk by using your Soul Fragments with the obelisk (first click on your soul fragments, choose `Use` and then use them on the obelisk).

    Avatar(s)
You've got to kill the avatar to win this game. The team who made the most kills is the winner of the game and will receive 3 zeals (points). You can kill the avatar when you meet the Slayer requirement you need, at that moment, to kill the avatar. When your slayer level is too low get some Soul Fragments and use them on the obelisk to get the slayer requirement down, so you're able to kill the avatar!

    Avatar status:
It's recommend to use your melee protection when you want to defeat this monster. The avatars are using only melee attacks so when you're using your melee protection it wont hit 46's.

    Blue Avatar:
When you're in the red team, you've to kill the blue team's avatar. This avatar is in this mini-game located west!
When you're confused you can always check the blue arrow on your mini-map.

    Red Avatar:
When you're in the blue team, you've got to kill this avatar. This avatar is in this mini-game located east!
When you're confused you can always check the red arrow on your mini-map.

    Death and Graveyards
Dying during the game will result in being temporarily transformed into a Ghost. This state lasts for 15 seconds, after which time the player may participate in the game again.

The Graveyards are very useful, when your team has control over one of those graveyards you will re-start in this graveyard when you died. If your team controls both graveyards you will re-start in the graveyard which is as closest to the avatar of the enemy! The graveyards can also be used to get the slayer requirement up for the enemy. When you're burying bones in your teams graveyard the requirement to kill the avatar from your team will raise.

    These are the Graveyards:
    West graveyard:

    East graveyard:

You can get the graveyards when you have more of your team players in the area than the other team.

    Leaving the game
It is not recommend to leave this mini-game when you're started it. When you leave the game you have to wait the time that the game is going until you can re-join one of the waiting rooms. This is made to stop people switching to the other team when they see their team is losing. When you have to go because of any reason you can leave the game in the room you started this mini-game:
    Blue start point:

    Red start point:

    Rewards
You will receive a number of 'zeal points' based on your performance in Soul Wars, at the rate of 3 points for a victory, 2 for a draw, and 1 for a defeat. You can trade these in with Nomad for a variety of rewards. Players can store a maximum of 50,000 Zeal points. (This is equivalent to playing and winning over 16000 games at 23 minutes per game cycle, which is equal to just over 266 days of continuous gameplay).
    The rewards:
    • Experience
You can claim experience in Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, Ranged, Magic, Prayer or Slayer. One zeal point is worth a set amount of experience depending on the level in that skill. Using 100 zeal points at a time will give you a XP bones of 10%!
    XP Table: "How to calculate"
o To Calculate Hitpoints, Attack, Strength, and Defence xp the formula is: math; take your level and square it(multiply by itself) then divide by 600, after dividing, round down to the nearest whole integer and multiply by 525
o To Calculate Ranged and Magic xp the formula is: math; take your level and square it(multiply by itself) then divide by 600, after dividing, round down to the nearest whole integer and multiply by 480
o To Calculate Prayer xp the formula is: math; take your level and square it(multiply by itself) then divide by 600, after dividing, round down to the nearest whole integer and multiply by 270
o Any skill-boosting items, such as Skill capes, drinks, stews, etc. will not increase the experience gained per zeal spent.
o The most experience per zeal that can be earned is 8576xp, with 99 in one of strength, attack, hitpoints or defence.
    • Charms
Charms of any color are available, the number you can claim depends on your combat skills' levels. Charms cannot be obtained if the player has a Combat level of 9 or lower.
    Table: Charm - Zeals
    o Gold Charm - 4
    o Green Charm - 5
    o Crimson Charm - 12
    o Blue Charm - 30
    • Other
Most options here are new Slayer pets, resurrected from remains you bring along. If you bring a stuffed or unstuffed trophy of a crawling hand, cockatrice, basilisk, kurask or abyssal demon, Nomad will then supply you with a pet of that type. See Summoning - Pets for more information.
    Table: Trophy - Pet - Zeal point(s)
o Crawling hand - Creeping hand - 5 zeal points
o Basilisk head - Baby basilisk - 40 zeal points
o Kurask head - Baby kurask - 70 zeal points
o Abyssal demon head - Abyssal minion - 85 zeal points

There is also a Gamble option! The Gamble option will reward players with a random item. Below is an unconfirmed list of possible rewards from the "Gamble!" feature. The option costs two zeal points. The rewards are related to either the Prayer or Summoning skills. Due to the fact that the Gamble rewards were not listed in any official form at the time of release, there were widespread rumors of players receiving valuable items such as Amulets of fury, Dragon platebody, Abyssal whips, and Elysian spirit shields. These rumors were later debunked by Jagex staff.
Table - Items you can get from the Gamble option!
    Item - amount
    • Babydragon bones (23)
    • Bagged plant 1 (20 noted)
    • Big bones (60)
    • Bones (209-290)
    • Carved evil turnip (7)
    • Coins (20,000-100,000)

    Miscellaneous information
    • Ava's Accumulator
When you've got Ava's accumulator you can go to Nomad and talk again to him. Be sure you've got the accumulator in your inventory and talk about it with Nomad. When he sees the accumulator he'll say it's interesting and will enchant your cape so it will pick up your arrows when you're shooting them in-game.
    • Digging in Nomad's camp
Players have been seen selling Spades to merchant with it, as there has been a lot of confusion at Nomad’s camp about valuable items being found by digging the grave’s, and even around the general area. Please note that you cannot get items by digging the graves, it is simply a hoax to sell Spades at an extravagant price. People where just saying this to get low level players out of the game and busy digging.

    • Music tracks unlocked
When you're playing this mini-game you will unlock two new tracks!
