[Denied] Never require ID verification for TWC removal

• (Briefly) describe the problem: The ID verification is either an (unnecessary) infringement of privacy that is sometimes required to remove a TWC. Furthermore, this system may also steer users into TWC-evasion when they opt to not give out their personal details.
  
  
• What current rule(s) tackle this problem: No Home IP - Trade with caution (TWC)
  
  
• Explain the change that you want: Swallow the bullet and remove the ID verification process criterion. Require less privacy infringing information, such as (only) a bill + note with Sythe username.
  
  
• Explain why this change will fix the problem: Less information shared means that the privacy infringement is reduced. Furthermore, users will have less incentive to TWC-evade when the system is less demanding.
  
  
• Is the change proportionate? (Does the change weigh-up to its side effects?): One of the key questions is if this change comes at the cost of the quality of the monitoring system. A couple of responses to that. Firstly, the group of people that would TWC evade under the current model will reduce in size, because of the less demanding requirements. An increase in group size of people following the procedure means that more monitoring takes place. Secondly, users who will try to bypass the old system will also try to bypass the new system. Perhaps some of these people will be more successful in bypassing the new system, but given that a TWC for a small group of bypassers is at stake, that is a price I am willing to pay to preserve the privacy of a much larger group and to have fewer people TWC-evade.

ID's are not required for Home IP removals, I'm not sure where you got this information. The rule states it MAY be required, but I can count on one hand with it only having 2 fingers how many times I required an ID, and that was because I knew the person was evading. It's a case by case, in most cases only proof of internet bills are required. I've also just checked a bunch of the most recent home ip twc removals, and none of them required an ID for the removal.

 

The suggestion sees to never require an ID verif instead of sometimes. I never said that it is mandatory procedure. Edit: anyway, edited the OP so that that bit is more clear

 

it's in your title; "Stop requiring ID verification for TWC removal" would suggest that it's required, when it's not. though to add, it's best to leave it as the possibility in the rule, so that when a really bad evader does come around and attempts to get a new account un-twc'd we would ask them to provide an ID to match the bill so that we have more information on the user. and to clarify some more, this isn't just for your some guy that scammed 10m and made a new account, this is for more extreme evaders

 

The current dispute process is fine as is.

 

I think it's fine to require this in some cases.
Keep in mind it's not mandatory, they can simply continue using the site with a TWC rank.

 

This is at the staff's discretion whether to request an ID for TWC removal.
