    Introduction

This is going to be the first of many COD: MW2 guides. This one will be focused on tactics on winning Capture the Flag, alone and with a group of friends. So let's keep this introduction short and get right into the tactics.

    Tactics

For the tactics section we will use the above image for informational purposes. Imagine the dots being the flags and the two lines representing two different running paths.

First I would like to start out with group play, where you're either with a clan or a group of friends that communicate with you. In this situation you want to dictate three different classes, each of which using two members of the group.

The first of these classes are the runners, these two members of your team are the peolpe who will be grabbing and capping the flag. A typical setup that works well for this class would be the following:

    UMP45 with Silencer
    Handgun with Tactical Knife
    Semtex or Throwing Knife
    Any Special
    Marathon Pro
    Lightweight Pro
Ninja Pro/Commando Pro (this can depend on if there's areas where it's easier to drop down when you would normally die from the fall damage)

The main tactics for this class is to do exactly what they're made to do, run the flag. Now, if you want you can just run in with your head out and ignore everyone around you but if you're playing any team with a decent amount of skill they will have several people defending. What this means is that the runner won't just be running, but they will be participating in getting kills and making sure that their partner is safe. It's always good to have two good runners as the other two classes do not require as much quick thinking or relative skill.

The next class is the container or the mid fielder, they will be making sure the runners have a clear path from the enemy flag to their own. There is no typical setup for this class and it mostly depends on whatever the person playing the position is more comfortable with. If they are a confident and accurate sniper, they can go with that. Although I highly recommend any gun with good accuracy and a large amount of munitions. The one and only job of this class is to keep the runners safe and clear. If the runners are dying when the mid fielder can see them, this person isn't doing their job correctly.

The last class is the defender, they will be sitting around the flag and patrolling any areas that aren't being covered by the mid fielders. Their main goal is to keep the flag from leaving the base, and this is by far one of the easiest positions to play. A typical setup for this is anything with Scavenger or Bling that can mow down multiple enemies within a short distance (since they won't be going after anyone at far distances). Although like the mid fielder they don't have a typical class setup and it's really whatever they feel most comfortable using.

Now that we have the three classes figured out let's go into some gameplay tactics. As you look at the example map, Estate, you can see where both flags are positioned. There are two paths with which you can use to get from one flag to the other. The green path is the path that is most wise to use, purely for the fact that the red path is open to every angle and can easily take anyone down from afar. Positioning for the team isn't extremely vital but it's good for the two mid fielders to stay spread out around the designated path that your team chooses, and while the most wise path may not be your team's choice it's always good to keep an eye on all directions to make sure you won't get flanked. Once your mid fielders have secured the green path the defenders can generally clean up the enemy coming up from the red path due to the fact that it is very open. This is why this strategy is most effective and why it's best to keep the green path open. While the runners run this path the mid fielders can clean up anyone trying to follow them or come from the only other possible route which is the small area next to the stairs and the small building with a snowmobile inside. Once you have your runners grabbing flags and your defenders are locking down your base, it's a guaranteed win there's nothing the opposing team can do if your teammates lock down their positions and keep them cleaned up.

Now we will get into playing solo. If you are in the position where you're really wanting to play CTF but have no one to join in with you or don't belong to a clan then feel free to play the game more like any other objective you have to play with a bunch of random misfits. Swap around, play defensive when you need to if the enemy continues rushing and if they start camping then move out and rush them. There is no real way to give tactics on solo play of objective games because really, without a team of people you're communicating with you can't really dictate and have everyone follow a systematic strategy. Although you will occasionally find a team that doesn't have their heads up their collective asses you will generally find many games riddled with kids that should be playing things like TDM and GW, but lack the intelligence to get out of objective games and do something they might actually be halfway decent at. But, then again this isn't SND so you do respawn and it's a little bit less of a competition. This is a game and you're meant to have fun playing it, don't get stressed out when you lose and enjoy yourself.

    Tips

Not ALL maps are as easily profiled as Estate is, there can be multitudes of paths and ways to run and you should always try to communicate with your team to make sure they clear whatever way the runners are planning to go.

It's always good to mix it up, if you really want to have some fun with a group you can always run a game and have one person play defensive and have everyone the opponent's flag. If you're playing a team that isn't going to be coordinated, there are always many different ways to mess with the opposing team and you can always throw in some Riot Shields to make it more fun. It is a game, enjoy playing it and don't let it get the best of you.

If you can't find anyone to play with try and get your teammates to plug their mics in and start communicating. This is a great way to meet competant players and become friends.

Challenge yourself, don't play games where all you do is rush the flag and capture it and go 0 and 10. Regardless if you're playing objective, you don't need to suicide everytime someone starts shooting at you and generally you can pull some pretty clutch moves if you grab the flag and just so happen to meet the other runner halfway across the map.

Playing with set rules with a group of people is always fun, what I mean by that is only Riot Shields with Throwing Knives or things like only Rangers. This is another great way to spice up the game and make it enjoyable.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Capture the Flag

I actually quite like this Guide.

Now, don't get me wrong. If you have the game Modern Warfare 2, you must know the game modes and how to play them, it's relatively simple.

I love how much time and detail you have put into the guide, and it's easy to read and understand. The only problem with me is that it is very text heavy. Even if you added just maps off of the game, I feel you should of added more than one picture.

I plan on adding more maps with possible paths. Sit tight for now, I'm writing a couple of other guides right now and I plan on doing more objective game types for MW2.

Thanks for the positive comments though. :)
