Pay for/Rent a stickie

I recently saw a thread (http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=843414) which gave me the idea... would boost business. People are already doing this by bumping their thread 5+ times a day. I would rather save server space and rack in more cash for the site in views, and for myself in sales.

Sounds a little preposterous, but i'd be willing to pay by the month, year, or permanent to have my thread stickied in the firecaping forum. The only condition would be that nobody else was able to do the same in the firecape/defender forum.

I have the ninth largest non-archived thread on the site, and it is only going to keep growing.

 

Sounds good, but like Necromancer said, wouldn't it just clutter the pages, since many people would purchase it?

 

Sythe don't accept PayPal..

Also it would be too much hassle for the mods.

What would be the price.

 

No because, theres loads of stickies anyway, and what happens when you go over the first page?

Stickies are supposed to be for important information, not people's shops and services.

 

They accept mail and western Union right? it could be like renting only and for about a week to a month and only like 2-4 slots available, which could be at a first come first served. I support, it means less spam and more donations coming in for Sythe.

 

This was done on another forum, and it pissed most people off because it took away their business.

Theres games like Dragonica, where you can buy shop points and the people with the most points had their shop ahead of everyone elses. I think that would be better then stickying every thread, but how would it work on Sythe i have no clue.

 

Not a bad idea, as long as the number of stickies is limited (maybe 4 max)

 

i do not support do you for this reson: If you stod in a quee (right spellt?) and was a poor person and relly needed to get to the guy behind the desk for food then a rich playboy comes and pay him X (replace X whit the price for sticky) to get first in the quee. no i dont think you would.

 

Why not just add a verified services section instead? Then trusted services could be moved there, and you could pay for a sticky in that section?

would go to Admins personally, I pmed sythe two weeks ago (whose very busy), no reply.

not first come first serve, best offers, and best sellers. Prices would be negotiable.

I said that only one person would be able to buy it, and might even end up competing with others for the spot. The rule sticky in the firecaping forum has ~1500 views, my thread has 65000. What seems more important to the buyer? the sale or the mediation of it?

can you say which forum? and who did it piss off? there are very few reliable sellers in a lot of these forums, why not save buyers time? They are capable of buying the spot, and if they gave a flying fuck, would.

I'd treat it as a donation, wouldn't expect the rank but it would be nice. There are services that offer mailed money for paypal, and I, like everyone else *could* mail it.

all threads would need to be arranged in descending order according to either views or replies, you can arrange this in the search option but nobody bothers. To have that done automatically for several individuals would gain them countless dollars.

People might not like this idea as much, but let's say you could sell 5 stickies. There could be an auction for them, and then it would raise prices and not clutter up the pages.

 

If it got denied on the thread you linked, why would it be accepted and implemented this time around?

 

He didn't constructively think of compromises for potential approval. I literally copy and pasted this from my sent box and made slight changes. I can always hope >.>

 

This is basically like Sythe having official trainers or whatever(which I believe is on the Do Not Suggest list) and it'd be unfair to people who are just starting as their thread would automatically be that closer to falling pages behind. No support.

 

I love how you assume I didn't read the entire thread. The cons outweigh the pros. Sure, we can get extra money and sure, we can save server space. But it just looks so bloody messy. I really would never support such an idea. I actually left a forum that implemented this suggestion.

 

Once people knew services/sales could be stickied, people would make sure to check it every time they entered a forum.

 

I can't see stickies working, but I could see custom colors for your thread titles, other than the gray and white. I'm sure if you had red text, your thread would stick out much more. :idea:
