If you look at all of the original poster's replies to this thread, he suggests that R2P should be demoted. I just gave reasons why his demotion would be detrimental to the site. You misinterpreted my tone completely.

 

Well it is a valid question to the quote he was responding too, and if he sees nothing done, why should he ask the question?

"I'd like to see you do all that and handle a busy social life and gold farming business." sounds like you are being defensive, which would stem from an assault from the poster

His promotion to Global came as a surprise to many, me included. Considering that he hardly put a toe out of the market, many felt his promotion was biased.

However, he does behind the scenes work in the guide forum, in the RaS and in the market. I'm sure he wouldn't have been promoted if he doesn't benefit the staff team in any way.

 

I've seen him more than I have seen other moderators, and I don't really hang around the market much. Not naming names.

Also, i've seen him handle some of my reports, and i'm glad he's been ranked higher, seeing as he's been in the staff pretty much the entire time i've been at Sythe.

If I didn't think Will did much I wouldn't have allowed him to be promoted to Global, but he has been a staff member for a very long time and has helped to remove corrupt staff, man the Market and offer a voice of reason during staff disputes. He is invaluable not only for his wealth (ha) of experience in regard to all things related to the Market, but because he is also an adequately active, trustworthy Moderator.

 

Will's amazing, done many trades with him, wouldn't find anyone as trustworthy as Will on this site, IMO.

 

I think my true asset to the team of Sythe staff is that I am on the front lines of the Market. This allows me to weed out people who are implicitly scamming our users, as opposed to those who have been blatant enough to have a reasonable scam report against them. A lot of issues are not as black and white, and require first-hand knowledge of the products in question.

One example, as has been posted here, is Guide Sales. Guide Sales is quickly becoming one of the more active areas of the Sythe Marketplace. However, as many people have noticed, there are a vast number of users posting guides that do not work or are grossly misadvertised. To the average person or moderator, these guides appear to work on paper, but a lot of the time have no practical use. I have put a stop to MANY of these scams, some of which were previously verified by moderators, at which point they become a mecha for scamming.

I also worked with Finn on introducing the new Item Exchange forum, which was developped due to changes in the way Runescape trading works. We were the first forum with a truly defined area for transactions involving the Trade Price + USD format.

All in all, I do realize that I am not the most active person on the forum. I am very busy much of the time, being in school, running a business, living with a bunch of maniacs. But over the past three years, I have always tried to make Sythe a safer place to transact and have never once compromised my position as a Moderator in order to help my business. I appreciate the opportunities given to me by Sythe, and the other moderators' support, and I hope we can all continue developping new ideas to improve what is already hands down the best gaming Black Market in the world.

 

That absolutely sums it up great. I was honestly curious at times on what you do, however I didn't doubt that you DID in fact do something.

It is good to see that you are into the inter workings of the black market so deeply.

 

R2 is a master GP seller and a great mod. Just thought I'd put my two cents in.

 

Im not really sure I havent seen him active with infractions and bans but I think he moniters the RS market place alot?

Will is a very friendly and good guy to talk with on MSN, I'm sure he is doing a fantastic job as a Global behind the scenes.

 

Will is a great guy & is the RSGP KING, if I ever have a problem with fail mods I always talk it out with Will.

 

I don't see how people can say what they do about Will. Is it any of their business why he was promoted, or should stay promoted. Obviously he helps in the black market, and in guide sales, so what more could you want. He's an uber gold seller, and he good at weaving out scammers. - Finito

it is the communities business what globals are doing, they deserve to know.

Except that those inactive globals aren't actually doing stuff behind the scenes, and usually get demoted fairly quickly, but we know that R2P is doing his job because otherwise he wouldn't have had enough moderator logs the past year to keep any form of moderator. If someone has been a sectional and then a mod for as long as R2P has, being inactive would have lead to a demotion long ago. You also probably won't see Matthew handling thread reports, because that's not what Matthew does. Same thing with R2P.
