    [IMG] Guide on Minesweeper [IMG]

Hello. This is certainly not one of my best Guides, but I'm certain that people often wonder. "What is Minesweeper?" - "How is it solved?"
In all, Minesweeper is not too difficult to master.

    [IMG] How to Play [IMG]

The goal of Minesweeper is one thing: locate and avoid all the mines. If you fail to do this and click on one of the mines, it's game over, and you must start again. However, the game has a technique as to how to locate these mines, and for you to "warn yourself" by marking them with flags. You can complete Minesweeper without the use of flags, but that requires much more skill and experience.

When starting a game in Beginner Difficulty, your goal is to successfully locate and mark 10 mines. I've created a graphic below to explain this.

Here is a explanation of the steps in the picture above.
    1. Click on Beginner - You must choose the difficulty level before starting the game.
    2. Choose a 9-cell square - Look at an area where numbers surround unknwon cells that must be solved.
    3. Locate and mark mine(s) - The numbers are key to locating the mine.* Right-click to use a flag.
    4. Right/left click on spot - Where the green spot is located, you want to click both mouse buttons to clear any spaces around the mine.**
    5. Repeat for nearby cells - As stated above, the numbers are key. 1's are the most beneficial, which is why they have been highlighted.
    6. Move to new grid area - As the lower portion is completed, you need to move to a new area to complete the game.
    7. Congratulations, you've cleared Minesweeper successfully.
*Numbers tell you how many mines are surrounding that cell. If the number is a 1, then there's 1 bomb. These, in most cases, are most useful.
**Both buttons must be clicked at the same time for a successful clearance.

After completing Minesweeper on one of the pre-set difficulties, you'll be prompted to enter your name in the high scores.
    • This can be found under "Game -> Best Times..."

    [IMG] Difficulties [IMG]

Minesweeper has a total of 3 pre-set difficulties:
    • Beginner
    • Intermediate
    • Expert
*If one wishes to have fun and/or to make the game more challenging, one may also choose the 'Custom..." difficulty.

A very nice guide... I never knew how the game worked and always clicked randomly and won (in beginner anyway). Has lots of pictures to keep it interesting. Good work, looking forward to more guides from you.

This is a great guide. You've set it out well and used pictures in the correct areas. It explains everything in depth (Which you need to do for a guide on something like Minesweeper, which can be seen as "Simple")

I can see why you were previously a UE.
