Would this be effective?

I'm currently working on a 1 def/40 Attack/99 Strength pure...

After I am done with that project, I was wondering, would an account with 99 Magic/99 Hp be effective in PVP?

It would be around 75 Combat. That seems a little high, considering you'd be getting hit like, 340's from other pures...

But then, if you were to get like, 99 Def, It would be around 90 Combat...

So would a 99HP/99MAGE/99DEF be a good PKER?

Absolutely. What you described second is called a mage tank, and they are very effective pkers.

Use full ahrim's and a DFS. Switch between lunar/ancient magic using spell book swap. Lunar when you need to veng yourself, ancient to blood/ice barrage combo them. You'll be extremely hard to kill and very versatile.

Everyone is different, there isn't really a "regular" way to fight. The most popular way to fight is 1V1 meleeing in edge, but I actually find that boring.

I've always liked multi-combat pking better.

 

Would it still be as effective if I were to not have 99 Def? I'd have a lower CB level, but I'd probably get more hits, so is it equal or lesser in effectiveness than a Mage Tank?

 

I would say it is less effective than being a mage tank. You don't get the benefit of barely being hit, having a high magic attack bonus, using your DFS spec, or using vengeance. These are some of the most important combos when you're using magic.

At a lower CB level you'd be surrounded by more pure PKers. Any type of ranger around your combat would own you. It wouldn't work together as nicely without the defense, it's like missing a piece of a puzzle.

 

Lol no any account that only uses magic and is over 30 combat is gonna fail.

The same account with 99 range that is using a cbow and venge would be better.

And the spellbook swap spell lets you cast ice barrage once, so it would be like Venge > Spellbook swap > Barrage > Spellbook swap > Barrage > Spellbook swap > Barrage > Spellbook swap > Barrage > spellbook swap > venge .. all the clicking and runes would be a hassle and it would just get assaulted by rune pures with 99 str

99 range would aid you in this because you should always have atleast one combat switch, and it would afffect your combat level.

 

What everyone above me said, you can also get 50 attk and 98 str and still be the same cb gmaul the shit outta them too, that'd be really effective.
