Require pictures for ALL sales

I do agree that this may become redundant if it is wrongly enforced but with a few alterations this could work. Is it necessary? No. Members choose to proceed with caution when dealing with someone who lacks picture proof. Ultimately you must be cautious when dealing with the black market anyways, so it would be overkill to require pictures for ALL sales. Heavy enforcement without conscious decision is the potential fallacy here.

So, basically you just decided that your suggestion doesn't work. Pictures are already required for accounts, and I explained why requiring pictures for GP doesn't work. What else do you think requires pictures?

 

There are many people who are ignorant of the scams people use, so no, not all members proceed with caution.

I don't think that you would be required to have a picture of all the GP you are selling if you are running a store that always gets new stock in, but requiring it for people who are selling a set amount I think is necessary.

As well, this would make it so that your thread doesn't just end up locked - if you don't read the rules, in my opinion, you deserve an infraction. Actually, maybe that would be a better idea. Make it so that posting a thread that is against the sections rules is infractionable, instead of having a rule just about pictures.

Most pictures would be faked.

Also, you can always ask seller to confirm anything that he is seling.

 

That over complicates the rules, and a simple picture of GP can be faked really easily.

First of all RSGP is not tangible, and if it was, wouldn't pins be tangible too? Dictionary meaning of tangible > your meaning. Simply because you see an item as tangible doesn't mean it is. Pins can be purchased in stores so if anything they are more real than virtual pixels.

As SuF said, using programs it is very easy to fake GP, and having an image of something does not mean that one's guide helped achieve it. Anyone with sense would meet the character in game (presuming it's an RS trade) to confirm what they said was true. Yes idiotic people don't deserve to be scammed, but if they were truly idiotic they would fall victim to fake pictures the same way they would fall victim to not seeing a picture at all and believing it.

Going against site-wide rules does, going against sectional rules doesn't, atleast to the best of my knowledge.

Um. Ignoring the stickies......... Thats a site wide rule that earns you an infraction. So. That makes all section rules infractable.

Not counting GP (which I had original thought should require pictures but I forgot how easy it is to fake one), i'd say now that the WoW Leveling should require pictures of an account that had been leveled to 80, similar to the requirements of showing proof of 99s if you are selling 99 leveling services in RS.

 

Again, you could just take a picture of your own account. That doesn't help scamming at all. You could have bought your own account. Vouches from others is the other way to really gain trust and prevent scams in those sections. Although most people start posting pictures as they do jobs anyways.

 

I'm sure this rule is already more or less set in place. Once mods lock the threads more often, people will start posting them. Spyike has been doing a good job lately

Yeah but sections where it is easy to take pictures, people still don't. I think thats the biggest issue, is people ignoring the sticky's.

 

If you see a thread without pictures, report it.

 

Then they are breaking the rules. Adding more rules to other sections won't help sections that already have the rule in place. >_>.
