Wing Chun was developed by a woman in ancient China. It is said that a woman refused an emperor's marriage proposal, and had to fight him to get her freedom back. She developed a technique of close combat moves to counter the emperor's aggressive attacks.
Furthermore, Bruce Lee was a master of Wing Chun.

I mostly have training in Muay Thai and various other kick boxing disciplines; though I am quite interested in the other martial arts from various other countries. Right now my interests lie in Wing Chun.

You did Taekwondo for a few years and never bothered to learn how it's spelt?
Even if it was to be broken up into segments, it would be Tae-Kwon-Do
Tae [Foot strike] Kwon [Fist strike] Do [Way]

Funny enough, I just started taking Muay Tai and Tai Jitsu classes today. Their really fun, but exhausting none the less.

That's the same that happened to me when I first tried Wushu. But also, my legs cramped soo bad the next day that I couldn't move. Also, when I quit for a few months and came back to Wushu, I went as hard as I can, and the next day it was the worst pain, when I moved my leg even one centimeter, it hurt.

I can move fine, everything just a little sore. Especially since we learned a headlock in Tai Jitsu on the first day..

It's like underground boxing or something, right? It's like the movie Fatal Contact, where someone invites Wu Jing to go UnderGround Boxing.

Here's the trailer for Fatal Contact: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDQ_p3wU0oc

I do general MMA at a club, and Mauy Thai.

I'm not too keen on Wing Chun, my dad wants to start. They seem to throw thousands of punches without any substance.. But that's what I think of it, I haven't had any experience of it though.

I much prefer a more varied, sporting martial art like Mauy Thai.

I think those rapidfire punches for Wing Chun is very good, remember that those punches are very strong as well, and it's very fast as well. Here's a fight scene where Donnie Yen is doing Wing Chun versus ten black belts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qhPDEOYbx4 At 1:55 and 2:28, he demonstrates the rapidfire punches.

I think that Wing Chun is a very defensive Martial Art, and remember, if you throw or hit at a Wing Chun fighter, expect for something to be thrown back at you, that's whats soo hard to fight a Wing Chun fighter, that's what it said in a documentary about the movie Ip Man I saw.
