in how many minutes can you solve a rubiks cube?

It's going to be different every time, whether you're an idiot just turning pieces aimlessly or whether your systematically solving it. Tutorials on how to solve them offer a look at someone's basic method... after you learn the 'basics' it becomes much easier to generate your own algorithms and develop your own methods for solving the cube. Most people don't have time to sit there and devise their own notation, so it is in fact more practical to learn via tutorial.

In speedcubing no one else is telling you how to do it. You have your own set of rules you use to help you orient the sides quickly, and you rely solely on your own quick intuition... not on someone else's orders. Your perception of the hobby makes it seem like anyone can solve a rubik's cube, which is true, but hopefully you realize that speed-solving is completely different from using a tutorial and solving.

 

Of course I believe it's difficult and subjective when learning to speedsolve! I was only commenting on the fact that it's pointless to watch a tutorial on learning to solve it in any amount of time, and it makes it less impressive when you (not you specifically) brag about speedsolving when you relied on a youtube video to teach you how

 

Newton and Einstein didn't know algebra intuitively, they were taught. They went on to develop more complex operations in mathematics, even having been taught (not from a youtube video, obviously ). The point is you aren't seeing the bigger picture; sure it's lame if you go to youtube, memorize the steps, and stop your progression there. But if you start by memorizing the steps, and then begin to grasp the moves yourself, you can go on and start doing really cool things on your own. Learning it initially is like the training wheels on a bicycle; you rely on it excessively in the beginning, but by the end you don't even use it, because you've developed your own way to ride.

 

I was down to like 43 seconds or something three years ago. Haven't really touched a cube since and I'd probably be pushing 2 minutes or so.

 

Several Hours

 

the first time i solved a rubiks cube it took me, 35 mins, the second time only 20, and the third 11 mins. I stopped after that.

 

I couldn't without tutorials.

 

i cant do it maybe ill just google how to, though i doubt i will be able to get it lol.

 

Hmm, the last time it took me about 2-minutes. This including taking it apart and putting it back together..

I can complete normally a few sides, then I get stuck, and give up. I've had a rubix cube for a few years now. It's never been solved.

 

i can only ever seem to do 2 side's max.
but with a complete one, i can make some pretty cool paterns and stuff on em. and be able'st to change it back to orignal

 

I started one when i was 11, i'm now 16 and i still have never solved it.
It's because i tried peeling the stickers off.. got bored so i stopped.. so now it's unsolveable

I haven't managed to even complete one yet, never mind do it in the quickest time.

just tried, 8 mins, 29 seconds.

on a 5v5 i got 48 mins

Also, it's not about getting one side then another, it's about the tequneeeeeeek

 

It was 6-8 minutes two years ago, I think I got it to just under 4 minutes like half a year ago. I haven't tried again since.

 

I can get it in roughly 90 seconds if the cube has been 'lubed'

 

I hit about a minute thirty on a good solve just about 2 minutes on a bad one.
