So is anyone aware of the status as of late as far as Jagex ban policy? Are temp bans still being handed out or are we back to the risk of perm ban upon being caught botting for the first time.

I think they do it because they are never 100% sure.

It's 14 days for the first offense and 9 days for the next. Not sure about the third, might be perm after that. They can't really detect reflection bots, so they are unsure about most botters.

As 'superdude' clarified- i can't really see how they would hand out a 14 day ban initially... followed by a 9 day ban after that.

Right now it seems that Jagex have realized that quite a significant chunk of their playerbase have evolved past the watered-down portion that is the grind, and are thus botting. They'd basically go out of business if they banned all of the botters instantly, so they give out two temps first. The first is usually enough to weed out the more timid botters, the second lets them know that they're serious, and the third is just for suicide botters.

I agree. If you look at the amount of people botting, it would be just stupid to ban them all. Just go watch the way from varrock to essence mine just before a update. >_< You see at least 10 people standing there doing nothing because their bot shuts down.
