How to catch fake vouchers

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my first guide for my User Education application. This guide will teach you how to catch fake vouchers. I was inspired to write this when I saw Necromancer's 'How to catch a ban evader' guide. Click here to read his guide.

Here on Sythe, there have been quite a lot of people who have been banned for having fake vouches. If you fancy hunting rule-breakers, keep reading.

What is a fake vouch?

Let's start off by teaching you what a fake vouch is. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with vouches by now. A vouch that is not genuine and/or has been edited to make it look real is called a fake vouch. When you catch a fake vouch, file a report here in the RaS section.

How do I catch them?

This is a really dumb way to fake vouches. Whenever you spot a vouch without the button, you'll know for sure that it's a fake vouch.

If you noticed, this vouch simply says, 'Vouch for Iizn.' Suspicious? Yes. When people normally vouch, they usually include a small description of the trade to show what the user has been trusted with, how it went, whether there were any complications, etc. If you ever see one of these vouches, click on the button to make sure it's legit. If you are re-directed to a thread with no such post, then you'll know it's a fake.

3) Look at this thread and these two posts carefully.

These posts were made by two leechers who co-incidentally happened to use the same type of grammar. They also somehow have the same join date. If you happen to spot one of these, keep an eye there for a while and see how long the serviceman takes to do the job. If he claims to have done an impossible job, such as 60-80 Slayer within an hour, well done, you've just caught another rule breaker.

4) There are many people who, after getting about fifty vouches, decide to add in a vouch from a moderator or a trusted member so that it's not easily caught. They do this so that it's lost in the crowd and nobody even notices.

When trading, they tell the person that they're trading with that they're very trusted, because a moderator trusts them. Most people don't check the vouch before proceeding with the trade, and end up getting scammed. Your priority should be to check whether these vouches are genuine or not.

Remember that most mods don't vouch in such a stupid way. And as I said before, they usually leave a small description of the trade or if they personally trust someone, they state why they're vouching him or her.

You can improve on the guide, expand it more. Once you add more details and take your time on it, you can call it a guide.

 

I know I probably missed something but instead of just saying 'Expand it,' maybe you should just point it out. I'm currently thinking if there are any other ways to catch them and so far, I have none.

 

Pretty good guide, pretty basic just as Necro's was, but does the job of explaining the methods. More useful for you newer(ish) Sythe member, detailed and has supporting pics. Not bad.

Very basic guide, spotting fake vouching requires common sense tbh.

 

It's aimed for newbies, specifically. My next guides won't be so short and noob-friendly.

Its not 100% correct, the Show thread button on vouches doesen't necessarily have to be there some vouches are sent via PM system which leaves no button.. Just trying to help..

 

Which is why they should either take a picture of the vouch or post it on the persons vouch thread.
