Non-staff verifiers.

This is ridiculous, how are they aloud to be doing mod jobs?

Seems as though there's been a U-turn on the 'we won't let users have mod powers' speech.

Yes. We haven't got mod powers. Mod powers is basically edit/delete/move/infract/ban. Have we got any of those?

 

If I recall, you "verified" some guides when you were mod that worked "in theory", which meant you didnt actually verify it, and the guides were non-working POS. Hopefully they will do a better job as non-staff than you did ; )

I never said it wasnt hard man, I am just saying dont trash them completely until you have given them a chance? They really dont have any staff powers, and there are HARSH penalties if they screw up.

Frankly theres little point due to the fact the can't edit titles.

And if were all for sticking with this then create some fair way to get selected.

Pen selected them and I don't see too many people complaining.

I'm just glad to have more verifiers, makes the guide section a little bit better.

 

I might agree with the second part of the statement about a selection process, but I think the choices they made so far are good.

And no you dont get your name removed from your list, you get banned for leaking the guide and if you "verify" a bad guide, you pay back every person who bought it.

I personally don't see a problem with them verifying the guides. Last time I checked the guides were burly getting verified due to most of the staff not willing/don't know how to do it. I think it's an improvement. So what if they get a peak at the guides?

They put their time into verifying it and making sure other members of the community isn't getting ripped off. Take a chill pill lol

 

Thats what the current guidelines seem to be as I understand them. Again, this is for the NON staff verifiers.

 

jCash, no matter how much you argue and complain, no one really cares what you have to say because what you're trying to say is pointless. Most moderators here are busy taking care of scam and spam reports or doing something else because they have to as staff members. Verifying guides is not a job they have to do but can do if they want. That is why having user educators or official middle mans verifying guides is a good idea because most of them are very smart and active here in Sythe. You just don't get the rank as UE or OMM just like that, you have to earn it like you have to earn your rank as a moderator but you probably got de-ranked because you did something wrong. No one here has a problem with this except you, your bitching is not going to help anything, sorry.

 

Try to convince me that ANY guide seller wouldn't want to give a way a free copy to get it verified because their sales usually go up after verification.

If a guide is un-verified I won't even give it a 1% chance of me looking at it.


And a perm ban for leaking is a pretty good reason not to.


And, I will say for myself that without a doubt ANYONE who doesn't like the fact a guide verifier gets 1 free copy of a guide for THEIR time and effort....can simply fuck off. I bet 50% of the guides they do are complete wastes of time.


You don't need mod powers to verify guides either.

 

I do think it's careless on the part of staff. There have been plenty of sectionals that were promoted followed by an "oops" moment, and the non-staff verifiers are chosen the same way with even less confidence than them (with the exception of Feren, who is already an OMM).

I'm sure they'd also like to CHOOSE who verifies it, and not out of a list of 6, or however many people there are. I also don't think they want to give their guide to staff for free just because the staff demand it. The system is just too easily abused. A verifier who goes around demanding people get their suspicious (profitable) guides verified looks like they're doing a great job cleaning up the section, even if all they're doing is hunting down free guides for themselves.

I don't believe there is a rule saying guides must be verified, so guide sellers are free to use anyone they wish to verify their guides. Of course, their guide won't end up in the Verified Guides section but that is their choice.

It's unclear whether verifiers will have that ability, but mods certainly do. They only recently got rid of the rule that 10m+/hr guides must get verified, but that can come back at any time.

In the other thread, someone also commented that they're probably going to make a private forum so verifiers can communicate methods to limit ripping, and better manage patched methods. If so, then giving a guide to one verifier is like giving it to all of them. If not, then the same problems the guide forum had before are still there.

 

I just want to say now there is going to be abuse by sellers of crappy unverified guides and/or the verifiers themselves getting every guide on the site for free.

It can't be stopped currently.

My question is, is there a solution we can think up of getting rid of the possibility of abuse as much as possible without wiping the entire section out. Wiping it out, I wouldn't shed a tear but do think that is drastic.

No they can't. Their guide will not be deemed Verified unless it was verified by one of the officials..
